10.2.6.1. First child of Charles H. Price and Marcella Hurley, DeVota Mary “Buddy” Price, was born May 8, 1916, at Fort Sisseton, South Dakota, U.S.

She married Joseph Charles Godfrey, son of Jeremiah Godfrey and Annie Swenson, November 14, 1940, in Taber, Alberta and had three children:

DeVota M. Price Godfrey died October 23, 2006, aged 90 years and Joseph C. Godfrey died May 24, 2004, aged 91 years in High Prairie, Alberta.

A quiet wedding of special interest to pioneers of Taber and district took place Thursday, November 14, 1940, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Augustin’s Roman Catholic Church, Taber, when Devota Mary, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Price, became the bride of Joseph, son of the late Jeremiah and Mrs. Godfrey, all of Taber. Rev. C. J. Lyons, parish incumbent, performed the ceremony in the presence of relatives and intimate friends of the contracting parties.

The bride was charming in costume of turquoise blue with white accessories, and carried a bouquet of sweetheart roses. She was attended by Miss Dolly Malinski of Lethbridge as bridesmaid, smartly attired in navy blue, with accessories to match, carrying a bouquet of red roses and sweet peas. Mrs. Carol Myre, matron of honor, wore a costume of rose beige, with accessories to match. The groom was supported by Mr. Roy Renner and Mr. Lynn Wenbourne.

Following the ceremony, the bridal party and guests repaired to home of the bride, where a reception was held. The wedding dinenr was served by the bride’s mother, assisted by the matron of honor. Toast to the bride was give by her father, responded to by the groom and toast to the bride’s mother by K. L. Jardine, with response by Mr. Roy Renner, groomsman.

Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey will reside in Taber during the winter months. Lethbridge Herald, Nov. 16, 1940.
