She married (1) Lloyd Charles Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, December 27, 1945, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and had one child:

Irene H. Kaven of Littleton, Colorado, a homemaker, died June 24, 2001 at Littleton Hospital. She was 73.

Services were June 28 at Drinkwine Mortuary. Interment was in Fort Logan National Cemetery.

She was born October 22, 1927, in Aberdeen, S.D. She married LaVern E. Kaven.

Her interests included fishing, sports and travel.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Patricia, Aurora; Judy, Centennial; and Lori, Englewood; a son, Ronnie, Golden; and seven grandchildren. Denver Post, July 12, 2001.

LaVern Edward Kaven, 76, of Littleton, Colorado and formerly of Mina, S.D., died September 26, 2007, in Denver. His funeral and interment were in Colorado.

He is survived by his children, Patty, Judy, Ron and Lori; one sister, Leota Hormann of Aberdeen; two brothers, Lawrence (Evelyn) Kaven of Aberdeen, and Vince (Ellie) Kaven; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; and one brother, Clarence. Aberdeen American News, Oct. 5, 2007.
