Leo Lewis Linton (1930 ~ 2013)
10.7.6.3. Third child of Archie Linton and M. Viola Mason, Leo Lewis Linton, was born May 28, 1930, in Roseneath, Alnwick Twp., Northumberland Co., Ontario.
He married Lois Emmeline Arthur, daughter of Frederick Bruce Arthur and Grace Gertrude Blodgett, June 27, 1953, in Roseneath, Ontario and had five children:

Leo L. Linton died December 13, 2013, aged 83 years in Hastings, Ontario and Lois E. Arthur Linton died April 12, 2011, aged 78 years in Norwood, Ontario and are interred at Centenary Cemetery.

Three sisters and a cousin of the bride formed the bridal party at a lovely summer wedding, Saturday afternoon, June 27, 1953, at 2:30 in Roseneath United Church, when Lois Emmeline, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Arthur, became the bride of Leo Lewis Linton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Linton, all of Roseneath.
Rev. J. R. Wheeler, officiated. The church was decorated with pink and white peonies, canterbury bells and delphiniums, the work of the decorating committee of the W.A.
Traditional wedding music was played by Mrs. Warren Atkinson, an aunt of the bride. Mrs. John Goodfellow, Codrington was soloist.
The bride, given in marriage by her father wore a gown of white nylon net and chantilly lace over slipper satin, fashioned with a very full skirt, two layers of lace and net formed a peplum over the skirt, the bodice coming to a point at the waist was fastened to the neckline with small covered buttons her long sleeves of net coming to a point at the wrists. Her hand embroidered veil with train was of tulle illusion held in place with a halo of studded pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of deep red roses and wore the grooms gift, a three-strand necklace of pearls and matching earrings. Miss Blanche Arthur was maid-of-honor for her sister wearing a gown of canary yellow nylon net and taffeta with matching headdress and mittens and carried an arm bouquet of turquoise carnations.
Misses Joyce and Linda Arthur were bridesmaids. Joyce wore orchid nylon net and taffeta, matching headdress and mittens and an arm bouquet of white carnations. Linda’s gown was apple green nylon net and taffeta, matching headdress and mittens and an arm bouquet of yellow carnations.
Flower girl, Nancy Arthur, cousin of the bride, wore a shell pink taffeta dress, short puff sleeves, embroidered yoke and a full skirt with a floral headdress. She carried a nosegay of baby’s breath and forget-me-nots centred with roses.
The groomsman was Glenford Linton, brother of the groom. The ushers were Oliver Eddy, Rochester, cousin of the groom and Gerald Elliott, Garden Hill, cousin of the bride.
A reception for seventy-five guests was held at the home of the bride’s parents, the bride’s mother received the guests wearing a gown of powder blue nylon sheer with lace medallions centred with rhinestones with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses.
Assisting was the groom’s mother, wearing a grey printed silk gown with white accessories and a corsage of yellow roses. Included among the guests were the groom’s two grandmothers, Mrs. Samuel Patterson, Hastings and Mrs. A. Mason, Campbellford.
The bride’s table was centred with a three-tier wedding cake with pink candles in crystal holders and pink roses in crystal vases. The waitresses were: Mrs. Ralph Sherwin, Cobourg; Mrs. Ted Reed, Malton; Miss Jean Elliott, Garden Hill; Miss Yvonne Adams, Roseneath; Miss Margaret Duncan, Fenella and Miss Irene Herbert, Rochester.
For travelling thebride donned a dusty rose and grey corded suit with pink and white accessories and a corsage of blue carnations and bridal rose. On their return from their honeymoon spent at Eastern points they will reside at 178 Blake St., Cobourg.
Guests were present from Rochester, Garden Hill, Campbellford, Hastings, Kendal, Cobourg, Warkworth, Malton, Codrington, Fenella and Roseneath. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, July 2, 1953.

Peacefully at his home December 13, 2013 in his 84th year.
Wife of the late Lois Emeline (nee Arthur, predeceased 2011).
Dear father of Dennis of Madoc, David (Susan) of Hastings, Terry (Janet) of Roseneath and Sandra Lynn Dawson of Peterborough. Loving grandfather of James (Becky), Emiline, Catherine, Thomas & Andrea; Dustin (Joanna), Ryan (Alisha Empey), Logan (Stephanie Anderson) & Alison; Bradley, Eric (Taylor Reid) & Apryl and great grandfather of Jake & Hanna Linton. Brother-in-law of Doris Linton.
Predeceased by his brothers James, Arnold, and Glenford. He will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and other family members.
A celebration of life will be held at Roseneath United Church, December 20th at 11:00 a.m., Reverend Jamie York officiating. Spring Interment.

Peacefully at Pleasant Meadow Manor, April 12, 2011, Lois Emeline Linton in her 79th year. Beloved wife of Leo L. Linton for 58 years. Dear mother of Dennis of Madoc, David (Susan Ward) of Hastings, Terry (Janet) of Roseneath and Sandra Lynn Dawson of Peterborough. Loving grandmother of James (Becky), Emiline (Trevor), Catherine, Thomas & Andrea Hetherton; Dustin (Joanna), Ryan (Elisha Empey) & Logan; Bradley, Eric & Apryl and great grandmother of Jake Linton. Sister of Blanche Poole (Ross) of Roseneath, Joyce Duncan (Matt) of Napanee, and Linda Constable (Tom) of Grafton. Sister in law of Doris Linton of Roseneath. Predeceased by daughter Joan E. Joan E. Linton
May 4, 1955 ~ January 12, 1956
Joan Elizabeth Linton, eight-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Linton, Baltimore, formerly of Roseneath, died in Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, January 12, 1956 where she had been taken that day following and illness in Cobourg Hospital.
The private funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Arthur, Roseneath, Rev. A. C. Luffman, Baltimore, in charge, with interment in Centenary Cemetery.
Surviving are the infant’s parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Arthur and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Linton. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, Jan. 19, 1956.
