The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Gordon A. Whitehorne. Wedding music was played by Miss Margaret VanVolkenburg and Mrs. Frank Potts sang “I’ll Walk Beside You” before the service and “The Wedding Prayer” during the signing of the register.
Given in marriage by her brother, Bruce Grills, the bride wore an original empire gown of peau de soie with sweetheart neckline and flared full length skirt with soft pleats at back and appliquéd with delicate Chantilly lace to match the lace jacket with collar of trimmed rhinestones and seed pearls.
Her fingertip veil was edged with matching lace and caught to a tiara of seed pearls and she was carrying a bouquet of Indianapolis white ‘mums.
Matron of honour, Mrs. Douglas Armstrong and bridesmaid Miss Donna Grills, sister of the bride, wore original gowns of rust peau de soie with matching shoes and headdresses. They carried a bouquet of yellow ‘mums.
Junior bridesmaid, Miss Vicky Grills, niece of the bride, wore a gown in green, identical to the others and her bouquet was bronze ‘mums.
Bruce Brown of Scarborough was the groom’s attendant, and the ushers were Roy Grills and Leo Linton, brothers of the bride and groom.
Roma and Randy Grills, twin niece and nephew of the bride, were flower girl and ring bearer. The little girl’s dress was of green peau de soie with wide rust cummerbund coming to a large bow at back and she carried a basket of mixed autumn flowers.
