2.2.1.7. Seventh child of Annie Ranson and William H. Wright, Robert Sydney Wright, was born May 27, 1898, in Tosorontio Twp., Simcoe Co., Ontario.
He married (1) Beatrice Olive Gallaugher, daughter of Robert John Gallaugher and Clara Jackman, on April 18, 1923, in Toronto, Ontario and had five children:

He married (2) Mary Jane “Jean” Rusk, daughter of George Albert Rusk and Ellen Lucinda Allen, October 24, 1937, in Creemore, Ontario.
R. Sydney Wright died March 27, 1985, aged 86 years, in Collingwood, Ontario and Beatrice O. Gallaugher Wright died January 4, 1935, aged 36 years in Alliston, Ontario and are interred at Honeywood Cemetery, Collingwood, Ontario.

A pretty wedding took place in Toronto, Wednesday, April 18, 1923 when Beatrice, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Gallaugher of Alliston, was married to Mr. Sidney Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wright of Thompsonville. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Dunn of Perth Ave. The bride wore a becoming suit of navy tricotine and carried a bouquet of Sweetheart roses. Mr. Carl Wright, and the groom’s sister, Miss Mary Wright, were attendants. That evening a reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Anderson, 222 Wallace Ave., sister of the groom, where a number of friends gathered to wish them a happy journey through life. After a short honeymoon Mr. and Mrs. Wright will reside near Cookstown. Barrie Examiner, May 3, 1923.

R. Sydney Wright
Robert Sidney Wright, a resident of Sunset Manor in Collingwood, died March 27, 1985 at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital in his 87th year.
Mr. Wright was born in the Alliston area after coming to the district in 1939. He was employed at Collingwood Shipyards.
Mr. Wright is survived by three sisters, May Cartwright of Toronto; Margaret Dermott of Alliston and Mary McMulkin of Barrie; one brother, Joe of Beeton; one daughter, Jean Livingstone; fours sons, Donald and Bill of Collingwood, Douglas of Alliston and Harold of Shanty Bay; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A service was held March 30 at Fawcett Funeral Home and was conducted by Rev. Samuel Fuller. Committal was at the funeral home following the service. Spring interment at Honeywood Cemetery.
Out of town relatives and friends attended the service from Toronto, Oshawa, Barrie, Alliston and Beeton. Collingwood Enterprise-Bulletin, Apr. 10, 1985.
Beatrice O. Gallaugher Wright
June 12, 1898 ~ January 4, 1935
Mention was made in last issue of the death of Mrs. Sydney Wright whose death took place in the hospital here on the January 4, 1935. Mrs. Wright who was in the 37th year of her age was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Gallaugher of town. She was born in Tosorontio Twp. but spent most of her life in Alliston. Twelve years ago she married to Sydney Wright and had lived in town or vinicity ever since then. Besdes her husband she is survived by five young children, Donald, Harry, Jean, Billy and Douglas. Her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Gallaugher, three brothers and two sisters also survive. The funeral took place from the home on Nelson street on the 7th inst. Rev. D. A. MacKeracher conducted the service in which Rev. G. L. Gray took part. Interment was made in the Union Cemetery. James Dermott, Thos. Cartwright, Wm. and Jos. Wright, Wm. Leach and W. D. Somerville acting as pallbearers. Alliston Herald, Jan. 17, 1935.
Mary Jane “Jean” Rusk Wright
October 26, 1897 ~ June 7, 1971
On Monday evening June 7, 1971, death entered Dundurn Hall in Collingwood and carried to eternal rest a highly respected and former resident of Ruskview, Alliston and Collingwood in the person of Mrs. Jean Wright (nee) Jean Rusk, daughter of the late George and Ellen Rusk of Ruskview. As a young girl, she attended school at Primrose while she stayed with grandparents, the late Samuel and Mary Jane Allen, then continued at Ruskview.
Jean was a member of Black Bank Presbyterian Church Choir and when this church was closed she became a member of Mt. Zion United Church. She married in 1937 to Sidney Wright of Alliston and became the stepmother of a young family.
Her cheerful, unselfish and willing disposition won her innumerable friends wherever she went. Jean had been a resident of Dundurn Hall for some years, having had a tumor removed off her brain and had been indisposed and bedfast for a number of years until God in His great mercy took her Home.
Besides her husband and family, Don, Bill and Jean (Mrs. Bob Livingstone) of Collingwood, Harold of Shanty Bay and Douglas of Alliston, she leaves two sisters, Mrs. Edwin Hunt, Collingwood, Mrs. Clarence Cook of Mansfield, and two brothers, Angus of Creemore, Oscar of Toronto and Wasaga Beach. Three sisters and two brothers predeceased her.
She rested at the Fawcett Funeral Home and interment June 9th at the Honeywood Cemetery. The pallbearers were Byron Cook, Howard Rusk, Norman (Pawney) Sanderson, Glen Wright, Jack Leisk, and Art Plater. Many floral tributes testified to the esteem in which she was held. R. Donald Wright
May 24, 1924 ~ December 21, 2006
Robert Donald “Don” Wright passed away peacefully at home, on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at the age of 82. Don, beloved husband of Jean (nee Plater) for 57 years. Loving father of Nancy and her husband Glenn Gourlie of Midland, Donna and her husband David Birkett of Wasaga Beach and Susan and her husband Jeff Packer of Oshawa. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Jennifer, Sara, Daniel, Hannah, Andrew and by his sister Jean Livingstone and brother Doug. Don will be sadly missed by many family, friends and staff of Don Wright Motors, Collingwood, established in 1952. A funeral service was held at First Baptist Church, 160 Pine Street, Collingwood, on Sunday December 24, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. Burial at the Westmount Baptist Cemetery, Collingwood. May 28, 1926 ~ November 17, 1973
Suddenly on Saturday, November 17, 1973, Harold Sidney Wright, beloved husband of Marion Livingston, dear father of Linda, Allan, and Carol all at home. Son of Sidney Wright of Collingwood and the late Mrs. Wright. Brother of Donald, William and Jean (Mrs. B. Livingstone) of Collingwood and Douglas of Alliston. Resting at the Jennett Funeral Home, 152 Bradford St., Barrie for service on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment West Oro Baptist Cemetery. Barrie Examiner, Nov. 20, 1973.

At the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood on Friday, November 8, 1991, William Gordon Bruce Wright, beloved husband of Margaret Heron and dear father of Robert William and Terry John Wright and Jewel Ann Poole, grandfather of Curtis and Denver Poole and Jordan and Justine Wright. Brother of Don and Doug Wright and Jean (Mrs. R. Livingstone) and the late Harold Wright. Funeral services were held at the Fawcett Funeral Home, 82 Pine Street, Collingwood on Monday, November 11, 1991 at 1:30 p.m. Interment Stayner Union Cemetery.
