----- OBITUARIES -----

Robert H. Ranson

Death claimed a widely known and respected resident of Minden with the passing of Robert H. Ranson, at his residence here on Tuesday, October 22, 1940, while in his 67th year.

The late Mr. Ranson has been ill for some ten months and through all that time he endured his suffering with true Christian fortitude.

The funeral service which was largely attended was held on Thursday afternoon, October 24th from his late residence. His brother Orangemen were present in a body, six of whom acted as pallbearers. Rev. Fleming brought a comforting message to the sorrowing ones taking as his text the words “I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan; very pleasant hast thou been unto me.” found in the 26th verse of the 1st chapter of 2nd Samuel. He spoke in glowing words of the character of the departed one and among the scripture passages he read the 23rd psalm.

The hymns used were “Rock of Ages” and “Peace, Perfect Peace.” Interment was made in Minden Cemetery, where the Orangemen took part in the service.

Sympathy is extended to the remaining members of the family consisting of two sisters and one brother, namely, Misses Sarah and Kate Ranson and Mr. Andrew Ranson, of Minden, and two daughters, Miss Irene Ranson, of Minden, and Mrs. A. M. Adams (Laura), of Toronto. Lindsay Post, Oct. 28, 1940.
