Thomas John Ranson  (1888 ~ 1977)

 

2.2.8. Eighth and of Thomas Ranson and Sarah Ann Mortimer, Thomas John Ranson, was born August 4, 1888, in Lutterworth Twp., Haliburton Co., Ontario.  

  He married Selena Ruth LenaSelfe Ellis, daughter of Isaac Selfe and Mary Ann, March 23, 1927, in Westlock, Alberta. 

 

  Thomas J. Ranson died August 8, 1977, aged 89 years in Grande Prairie, Alberta and is interred at Grande Prairie Cemetery.

At United Church Manse, Westlock, Alberta, Mrs. Lena Ellis of West Vancouver was recently united in marriage to Mr. Thomas J. Ranson of Rossington, Alberta. Rev. K. D. Allen officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Ranson are spending a few days in Edmonton. Vancouver Daily Province, Apr. 9, 1927.

Thomas J. Ranson

Thomas John Ranson of Grande Prairie passed away on August 8, 1977 in the Grande Prairie General Hospital at the age of 89 years. He was born in Minden, Ontario and came to Southern Alberta in 1913. He came to the Grande Prairie area from Southern Alberta in the early 1920s where he farmed and homesteaded in the Sexsmith and Teepee Creek area until the 1960s. He later Moved to Grande Prairie and became a caretaker of the Bus Depot. Later he resided in Pioneer Lodge and for the last four months he lived in the Central Park Nursing Home. He is survived by many cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Lena in 1941. Funeral service for the late Thomas John Ranson was held on Thursday, August 11, 1977 at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Bob Wallace officiating. Interment followed in Grande Prairie Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Olivers Funeral Chapel. Grande Prairie Daily Herald Tribune, Aug. 13, 1977.

 

Selena R. Selfe Ellis Ranson

August 30, 1867 ~ February 4, 1941

Passed away February 4, 1941, Selena Ranson of Smoky Heights, Alta., in her 74th year, beloved wife of Thomas Ranson. Survived by her husband of Smoky Heights, Alta.; three daughters, Mrs. A. Scott and Mrs. J. A. Cheaham in England; Mrs. G. E. Duncan of Vancouver, B.C., and 1 son, Frank H. Ellis of West Vancouver. Funeral service Thursday, February 6 at 1:30 o’clock from the Hollyburn Funeral Home of Harron Bros. Ltd., 18th and Marine Drive, West Vancouver. Rev. J. P. Dingle officiating. Cremation.
