2.3.9. Ninth child of Isabella Ranson and John Mortimer, John McBride Mortimer, was born September 26, 1887, in Anson Twp., Haliburton Co., Ontario.
He married Margaret Ann Campbell, daughter of Malachi Campbell and Margaret Jones, February 5, 1913, Minden, Haliburton Co., Ontario and had 12 children:

John M. Mortimer died March 30, 1972, aged 84 years, in Red Deer, Alberta and Margaret A. Campbell Mortimer died July 10, 1936, aged 45 years, in Edmonton, Alberta and are interred at Pine Grove Cemetery, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta.

Mortimer—Campbell
A very pretty wedding was solemnized in the Dominion Hotel on Wednesday evening February 5, 1913, when Mr. John (Mack) Mortimer, of Strasbourg, Sask., and Miss Margaret Ann Campbell were united in marriage. Rev. J. M. Whyte performed the ceremony in the presence of a large number of guests. The bride who was attired in white embroidered net over silk and carried white carnations and ferns entered the parlor leaning on the arm of her father, Mr. M. Campbell, Miss Clara Trumbell who assisted the bride wore an embroidered Swiss gown and carried pink carnations and ferns. Mr. Dean Mortimer of Carbon, Alta., brother of the groom, was best man.
Miss Ella May Stamp who played the wedding march was attired in white dimity. After the usual congratulations the company entered the dinning room, where a wedding supper was partaken of. The evening was spent in social intercourse and music. The presents were numerous and valuable. After a short visit with friends in this vicinity Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer will go to their home in Strasbourg, Sask. Lindsay Post, Feb. 14, 1913.

John M. Mortimer
John McBride Mortimer of Valley Park Manor, Red Deer and formerly of Rocky Mountain House passed away March 30, 1972 at the age of 84 years. The late Mr. Mortimer was born September 26, 1887 at Minden, Ontario coming west to Strasbourg, Sask. In 1911, he moved to Carbon, Alberta where he farmed until 1927. He then moved to Rocky where he was engaged in the lumber business until his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife in 1936 and one son in 1929 and leaves to mourn four sons, Reginald of Maple Ridge B.C.; Raymond and Marshall of Calgary; Harold of Banff; and five daughters, Mrs. Phyllis Jarvin of Rocky; Isabelle Evans of Calgary; Mrs. Shirley Wilson of Red Deer; Mrs. Roxy Ashmore of Alger Flats; Mrs. Maxine Yerbury of Richmond B.C.; 23 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held April 3 from the Memorial Presbyterian Church Rocky Mountain House with Rev. Gordon Cunningham officiating. Internment followed in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were C. Hay, E. Humphrey, W. Jackson, J. Herron, H. Jensen, A. Robinson. Rocky Mountain House Mountaineer, Apr. 5, 1972.
Margaret A. Campbell Mortimer
October 28, 1889 ~ July 10, 1936
Mrs. M. Mortimer, a resident of the village for over two years, passed away last Friday [July 10, 1936] after a lengthy illness from cancer. She was a patient in the University Hospital, Edmonton, for some months, returning home about two weeks ago. The funeral took place to (at) Pine Grove Cemetery on Sunday, Rev. R. K. Pike conducting the services. She is survived by her husband and nine children. Rocky Mountain House Mountaineer, July 15, 1936.
