Reginald Dean Mortimer  (1913 ~ 1985)

 

2.3.9.1. First child of John McBride Mortimer and Margaret Ann Campbell, Reginald Dean Mortimer, was born November 20, 1913, in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan.

  He married Sadie Belle Teskey, daughter of John Hector Teskey and Lilias Gladys Sturgeon, October 15, 1939, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and had three children:

 

  • (2.3.9.1.1)  Dean Robert  (1943 ~ ) 

  • (2.3.9.1.2)  Gordon Hector  (1945 ~ 2017) 

  • (2.3.9.1.3)  John Leslie  (1950 ~ ) 

 

  Reginald D. Mortimer died August 29, 1985, aged 71 years and Sadie B. Teskey Mortimer died July 5, 2015, aged 92 years in Maple Ridge, British Columbia and are interred at Maple Ridge Cemetery.

A pretty autumn wedding took palce in Memorial Church Sunday afternoon, October 15, 1939 when Sadie Belle, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Teskey became the bride of Reginald Mortimer, eldest son of Mr. J. M. Mortimer. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. K. Peck. The bride who was lovely in a floor-length dress of ivory satin, was given in marriage by her uncle Robert Sturgeon. She wore a veil of white embroidered tulle, with a coronet of orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations. Her bridesmaid Miss Isabelle Mortimer, wore a princess dress of pink satin, with puffed sleeves and a corsage of pink carnations. Hector Teskey was best man, and John Ferguson played the wedding march. Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer will live in Rocky Mountain House. Rocky Mountain House Mountaineer, Oct. 18, 1939.

Reginald D. Mortimer

Reginald Dean Mortimer passed away August 29, 1985. He was born in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan and came to Carbon, Alberta in 1913.

  Moving with his parents to the Bingley district in 1928.

  After working in several areas he returned to Rocky Mountain House where he lived and married Sadie Teskey.

  He took up the carpenter trade and worked in Canmore, Banff and Calgary before settling in Maple Ridge, B.C.

  He leaves to mourn his loss three sons, Dean and John of Maple Ridge, B.C., Gordon of Williams Lake and five grandsons and one granddaughter; two brothers, Harold of Banff and Marshall of Sylvan Lake, Alberta; five sisters, Phyllis Jarvin, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, Isabell Evans of Calgary, Shirley Wilson of Red Deer, Roxy Ashmore of Aldersyde and Maxine Yerbury of Tumbler Ridge, B.C.

  Funeral services were held Saturday, August 31 from Garden Hill Chapel in Maple Ridge, B.C. Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News, Sept. 4, 1985.


Sadie B. Teskey Mortimer

December 30, 1922 ~ July 5, 2015

Passed away July 5, 2015 at the age of 92. She was born December 30, 1922 in Secretan, Saskatchewan. Sadie met her late husband Reginald Mortimer in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. They moved to Canmore, Banff & Calgary before settling in Maple Ridge, BC. Sadie was a mother, housewife, camp cook & caretaker. She loved traveling, bingo and the slots. She will be sadly missed by those of us who loved her. She is survived by her three sons, Dean (Bertha) (Marion), Gord (Christine) and John (Nicole). She had 6 grand-children & 9 great-grand-children. Thank-you to all the caregivers at Maple Ridge Seniors Village for all their care over the past years. A private family memorial will be held July 22, 2015 at Maple Ridge Cemetery where she will be interred with her husband Reginald.
