----- MARRIAGE -----
Mortimer—Ashmore
Miss Roxiena Royetta Mortimer, daughter of John Mortimer of Rocky Mountain House, and Dennis Ross Ashmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ashmore of Calgary, exchanged nuptial vows before Father Anderson at a recent ceremony in St. Joseph’s church, Calgary.
The bride, given in marriage by her brother, Harold Mortimer of Banff, wore a classic gown of white satin made by her sister, Mrs. William Jarvin of Rocky Mountain House. The sculptured bodist was designed with lace yoke and lily point sleeves while the full skirt wept into a cathedral train. Misting over her gown was a finger-tip veil of illusion net with a headdress of seed pearl. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink roses.
As her sister’s only attendant, Miss Maxine Mortimer was frocked in a full skirted model of white nylon mounted over pale green taffeta. Her chapel veil fell from a coronet of orange blossoms and she carried Picardy gladioli in her bouquet.
The groom was attended by his cousin, Keith Groves of Champion and ushers were B. Peters and Chester Blasetti of Nordegg.
Max Groves, the groom’s uncle, proposed the bridal toast at a reception in Gene’s following the church service.
Guests from out-of-town who attended the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. M. Mortimer of Strathmore; Mr. and Mrs. R. Mortimer, Canmore; Mr. and Mrs. William Jarvin, Rocky Mountain House; Mr. and Mrs. Max Groves, Elain and Dale, Champion; Mr. and Mrs. L. Maisey, Mr. and Mrs. E. Ashmore, Vulcan; Mr. and Mrs. F. Marzetti, Mr. and Mrs. G. Poscente, Mrs. M. Ashmore, Chester Blasetti and B. Peters, Nordegg; and Harold Mortimer of Banff.
Following a honeymoon in the western states the bridal couple will take up residence in Calgary. Rocky Mountain House Mountaineer, Aug. 30, 1951.
