Henry Ranson  (1877 ~ 1961)

 

2.4.1. First child of William Ranson and Elizabeth Coburn, Henry “Harry” Ranson, was born December 13, 1877, in Lutterworth Twp., Haliburton Co., Ontario. 

  He married Laura Eleanor Landon, daughter of William Rufus Landon and Maria Prentice, July 14, 1913, in Orillia, Simcoe Co., Ontario and had two children:

 

 

  Harry Ranson died April 19, 1961, aged 83 years, in North Bay, Ontario and Laura E. Landon Ranson died December 14, 1987, aged 91 years in Bracebridge, Ontario and are interred at St. Thomas Anglican Cemetery, Bracebridge, Ontario.

Henry Ranson

A well-known Muskoka resident, Mr. Harry Ranson, passed away April 19, 1961, at the North Bay Hospital, in his 84th year. 

  Mr. Ranson leaves his wife, the former Laura Landon, and two sons, Landon and John.

  The funeral took place Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock, the service being held at the chapel of the Reynolds’ Funeral Home. Rev. Douglas Muir conducted the services. Interment was at St. Thomas Anglican Cemetery. The bearers were Lorne Bruce, Russell Salvion, Ralph McPherson, Reg. Irwin, Harper Middlebrook and Mel. Vincent.

  Mr. Ranson followed lumbering most of his life and was active until failing health necessitated his retirement. He was well known in this community and held the respect and esteem of many friends. Bracebridge Herald-Gazette, Apr. 27, 1961.
