2.4.1.1. First child of Henry Ranson and Laura Eleanor Landon, John Douglas "Jack" Ranson, was born in June 7, 1914, in Bracebridge, Macauley Twp., Muskoka Dist., Ontario.
He married (1) Elizabeth “Betty” Adams, daughter of Allan Gilchrist Adams and Helen Elizabeth Rollins, November 7, 1939, in Sudbury, Ontario and had two children:

Jack D. Ranson died April 13, 1987, aged 89 years in Richmond Hill, Ontario and is interred at Minden Village Cemetery.

Jack D. Ranson. After a lengthy illness on Monday, April 13, 1987, at York Central Hospital, Richmond Hill, loving husband of Jannie, dear father of Paul and his wife Bev, Betty (Mrs. George Oliver), Joyce Anderson, Wendy (Mrs. Larry Kintz), Shearon and George Aldous, Thomas Knapp and his wife Donna, Dale and Michael, grandfather of eleven grandchildren. Jack will be sadly missed by his many friends. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Richmond Hill United Church, 10201 Yonge St. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 2 Carlton St., Ste. 710, Toronto, M5B 2J2.
