James Douglas Ranson (1927 ~ 1952)
2.4.3.9. Ninth child of William James Ranson and Maud Eveline Snell, James 'Douglas' Ranson, was born March 19, 1927, in Minden, Ontario.
J. Douglas Ranson died January 4, 1952, aged 24 years, in Toronto, Ontario and is interred at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay, Ontario.

J. Douglas Ranson
Funeral service was conducted at the Mackey Funeral Home, Lindsay, on January 7, 1952, for James Douglas Ranson, 29 Logie St., Lindsay, who passed away in Toronto, after a short illness, on January 4, 1952, in his 25th year.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Ranson, Lindsay, and was born in Minden, Ontario. He had lived in Lindsay since he was a year old.
The deceased received his education at the Victoria School and the Collegiate Institute, Lindsay. He was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, at one time being a sidesman and had held office with the A.Y.P.A.
Mr. Ranson was employed with the Belgium Stores of Montreal, just prior to his death and had also been for a time with Drury’s, Eaton’s and Zellers, of Lindsay. He enlisted with the Canadian Infantry Corps in April 1945, and was discharged in February, 1946. He was a member of the Canadian Legion.
The funeral service was conducted by Rev. H. Hesketh of St. Paul’s Anglican Church and interment was made in the Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Messrs. Ian Drury, Allen Fleury, Ted Quibell, Rhys Williams, Bill Watson and Norman Snook. The floral tributes were many and very beautiful, bearing testimony of the esteem in which Douglas was held.
He leaves to mourn his loss besides his parents, three brothers and four sisters: Ray of Toronto; Norman and Philip, Mrs. Jack Quibell, (Aggie), Mrs. Walter Brasier, (Doris), Myrtle and Helen, all of Lindsay.
Friends from Montreal, Toronto, Mimico, Barrie, Peterboro, Belleville, Whitby, Sunderland, Keene, Haliburton, Minden and Coboconk attended the funeral. Lindsay Post, Jan. 22, 1952.
