One more dear one gone before us

To the land of peace and rest,

Like a guarding star to lead us

To the mansions of the blest.

Long and patiently he suffered,

But his soul has found release;

Gone to join his angel daughter

Where all pain and parting cease.

Gentle with his wife and children;

Kind to every one he met;

Even friends of youth and school-days

Love to think about him yet.

Blessed Lord, Who, in Thy mercy,

Didst release him from his pain,

Teach us so to live each moment

That we all may meet again. Bowmanville News, July 11, 1918.
