Elizabeth Ann Allin  (1866 ~ 1947)

 

4.10.5. Fifth child of Jane Elford and Samuel Allin, Elizabeth Ann “Annie” Allin, was born November 27, 1866, in Providence, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.

  E. Annie Allin died August 28, 1947, aged 80 years in Bowmanville, Ontario and is interred at Bowmanville Cemetery.

E. Annie Allin

November 27, 1866 ~ August 28, 1947

On August 28, 1947, Miss Elizabeth Ann (Annie) Allin who had been in poor health for some time passed away at her home on Centre St., Bowmanville.

  Miss Allin was daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Allin and was born on the homestead near Providence, 80 years ago. She attended school at Providence and lived for many years with her parents on the farm at Providence and later at Allindale Farm, Darlington. Thirty-three years ago she moved to Bowmanville and had since resided on Centre St.

  Miss Allin’s talents as a musician were greatly appreciated as she was always willing to share her music musical ability for the entertainment of others. For many years she was organist of Providence Church and later assisted as pianist for several organizations at Trinity United Church where she was a member and attended as long as health permitted.

  Miss Allin was unmarried and remained at home with her parents and was a comfort to them in their declining years. After their death she resided alone and her passing will be much mourned by her neighbours to whom she was a staunch and faithful friend as in her own quiet way she did much to help and comfort others.

  The funeral was held on August 30, from the Morris Funeral Chapel.  Rev. W. Rogers officiated at the services.  

  Four brothers mourn the passing of their sister—Albert, Wesley and Charles, Bowmanville and Dr. Norman Allin, Edmonton, Albeta.

  The pallbearers were George Annis, Alfred Allin, Sam Allin, Wesley Yellowlees, Clare Allin and George Allin.

  Interment was in the family plot in Bowmanville Cemetery. Bowmanville Statesman, Sept. 11, 1947.
