----- MARRIAGE -----

Allin—Dowson

A most happy event transpired at the residence of Mr. Mark Dowson, Bowmanville, Tuesday, December 26, 1905, when their only daughter, Miss Nellie A., was united in marriage with Mr. Wesley R. Allin, fourth son of Mr. Samuel Allin, Lake Shore West. At four o’clock while the wedding march was being played by Miss E. Annie Allin, sister of the groom, the bride entered the drawing room leaning on the arm of her father, where the immediate relatives were gathered to witness the pleasing event. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Wm. Jolliffe assisted by Rev. V. H. Emory. The bride who was unattended was becomingly attired in white and carried a bouquet of carnations and roses. Her travelling dress was of blue ladies’ cloth with hat to match. At the close of the ceremony Mr. Charles Allin, brother of the groom, sang “Queen of My Heart.” After partaking of the wedding supper the happy couple left on the evening train for Toronto, Detroit and other western points amid showers of rice and the good wishes of their friends. The presents to the bride were pretty and useful articles, some being sent from London, England. The groom’s present to the bride being a handsome sable muff. Among messages of congratulations received was a cablegram from London, England. Bowmanville Statesman, Jan. 10, 1906.
