Harry C. Brittain
July 25, 1866 ~ June 18, 1914
There passed away peacefully at his residence, 27 Alder Avenue, shortly after eight o’clock last evening [June 18, 1914], one of the most popular business men and citizens of the city in the person of Harry C. Brittain, at the age of forty-seven years. Although Mr. Brittain has been confined to the house during the past ten days, and it had been generally known that he was ill, the news of his death came as a great shock to his many friends and business acquaintances. About two weeks ago he suffered a slight internal muscular injury which developed with serious complications and he had been confined to his home under medical treatment.
Mr. Brittain was one of the younger generation of business men of the city. He came west and located here three years ago. During his residence he had been popular in business circles, being an active member of the Board of Trade and had taken great interest in the civic life of the community. He had been actively identified with Zion Methodist Church, being a member of the choir, and only recently was appointed the superintendent of the Sunday school.
He is survived by a wife and four children, one son and three daughters. He also has immediate relatives, five brothers and one sister. One of the former, Charles, who is western manager for the Canadian Fairbanks Co., in Winnipeg, was notified of the death of Mr. Brittain last evening and he left Winnipeg last evening for this city. The funeral arrangements will not be made until other relatives have been heard from. Moose Jaw Times-Herald, June 19, 1914.
