----- MARRIAGE -----

Joness―Morris
A happy social event was celebrated at the “Fernsyde,” the residence of Mrs. D. T. Morris, Horsey Street, on Good Friday evening [April 5, 1901] where her second daughter, Lillian Maude and Mr. Frederick H. Joness of “Retreat Dairy” were united in the holy bonds of wedlock. The ceremony was performed in the drawing room, the bridal party standing before a bank of palms, and foliage plants. The bride was given anway by her uncle, Mr. J. R. McBride, Toronto. Rev. W. J. Joliffe, B.C.L., tied the nuptial knot in the presents of about forty invited guests. The wedding march was played my Miss Florence Tilley. The bride was prettily attired in a dress of white organdie over white silk, with lace, insertion and bebe ribbon trimmings and carried a beautiful cluster of white roses. The bridesmaid, Miss Helen G. Morris, assisted her sister and was dressed in white muslin with lace and insertion trimming, and wore a gold ring set with pearls, the gift of the groom, and carried a beautiful bouquet of pink roses. The groom was ably supported by Mr. Fred C. Vanstone. After congratulations Mr. George P. Freeland took a flashlight photo of the wedding party. The company then repaired to the dining room where a tempting wedding dinner was served from tables nicely decorated with fragrant hyacinths and lilies. Later in the evening the happy couple were escorted by a number of the guests to the station, where they received a copious shower of rice, etc., as they departed to spend their honeymoon at Toronto, Strathroy and other western points. The bride’s going away dress was a dull blue granite cloth with hat to match. The presents to the bride were a very choice and handsome collection. Mr. and Mrs. Joness will on their return reside here. They have the best wishes of a large circle of friends for a happy and prosperous wedded life. Bowmanville News, Apr. 11, 1901.
