----- OBITUARIES -----

Jennie O. Adams Steer

A particularly sudden and sad death took place on Thursday, February 1, 1917, when Mrs. John Steer, a young woman of twenty-three summers passed away, leaving to mourn their loss, a husband and one child two years of age. Deceased was ill only one week, having contracted a cold which developed into meningitis. She was the only daughter of Mr. William Adams of Wyebridge. Her mother was called away by death while she was quite young, and three years ago she married Mr. John Steer and came to Midland to live. From this union a beautiful little daughter was given to bless the home, who is left at the age of two years without the tender care of a mother.

Mr. Steer is just recovering from an accident in which he lost two fingers off his left hand, and this more bereavement is a very hard blow indeed.

After a service at the home on Sunday conducted by Rev. J. J. Elliot, at which a very large number of citizens were in attendance, the funeral took place to Wyebridge, where interment took place, the cortege being a long one notwithstanding the bad conditions of the roads.

The husband and friends have the sympathy of the community in their sore bereavement. Midland Free Press, Feb. 8, 1917.
