4.2.2.5. Fifth child of W. Munroe Adams and Lila V. Scott, Gerald Donald Adams, was born December 10, 1934, in Midland, Simcoe Co., Ontario.

He married Claudia Beryl Jones, daughter of Edmund Switzer Jones and Viola Elliot Cruse, October 20, 1956, in Midland, Ontario and had two children:

Gerald D. Adams died December 4, 2016, aged 81 years and C. Beryl Jones Adams died September 25, 2023, aged 87 years in Scarborough, Ontario.

A quiet wedding was solemnized October 20, 1956 at St. Paul’s United Church parsonage, Midland, when Claudia Beryl Jones, eldest daughter of Mrs. Viola Jones, Midland, became the bride of Gerald Donald Adams, Toronto, son of Mr. and Mrs. Munroe Adams, Wyebridge.

Rev. W. R. Auld officiated at the evening ceremony.

For her wedding the bridechose a semi-formal gown of white shirred nylon over satin. Her finger-tip veil was caught to a nylon headdress and she carried red sweetheart roses and white streamers on a white Bible.

Peggy Lynn Jones was her sister’s only attendant. She was attired in turquoise embossed organdy with white accessories and a bouquet of bronze ‘mums. Beverly Adams, brother of the groom was best man.

Mrs. Jones was attired in black crepe for the occasion. The dress had a matching jacket with white accessories and a corsage of red and white carnations.

The groom’s mother wore a dress of aqua wool with black accessories and a corsage of white roses.

For a wedding trip to Eastern Ontario the bride chose a black dressmaker suit with beige hat and topcoat, and a corsage of sweetheart roses.

Guests attended the wedding from Toronto, Orillia, Port McNicoll and Wyebridge.

Mr. and Mrs. Adams are making their home in Toronto. Midland Free Press, Oct. 26, 1956.

Peacefully, in his sleep on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Centenary Hospital in his 82nd year. Beloved husband to Beryl for 60 years. Loving Dad to Jackie (Greg) and Jeff. Cherished Grandpa to Andrew and Brittany. Jerry will also be missed by Colleen and Laura, his brother Beverly, as well as many nieces and nephews. C. Beryl Jones Adams

May 3, 1936 ~ September 25, 2023

Following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Beryl passed away peacefully at the age of 87 years. Beloved wife of the late Gerald Donald Adams.

Cherished mother of Jackie Adams (Greg) and Jeffrey Adams. Loving grandmother of Andrew (Michelle) and Brittany. Adored Great Grandma to James. Step-grandmother to Colleen and Laura.

Beryl was a kind and generous woman and will be missed by her siblings Marvin, Wayne, Beverly, Larry and Peggy. Many nieces and nephews have fond memories of Beryl.

Beryl loved to travel, curl, play bridge, golf, read and she was an avid Blue Jays fan. She had a special fondness of orchids. Most of all she treasured time with family and friends at the cottage on Kahshe Lake. Beryl loved her career as a real estate agent assisting many clients to find homes in the Greater Toronto area.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday September 28th 11am at Tam Heather Curling & Tennis Club located at 730 Military Trail. Toronto Star, Sept. 27, 2023.
