Frederick William Elford (1875 ~ 1942)
4.2.3.4. Fourth child of William H. Elford and Mary E. Webster, Frederick William Elford, was born June 24, 1875, in Hampton, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.
He married Margaret Violet Strong, daughter of James Strong and Jane Rutherford, March 6, 1912, in Winnipeg, Manitoba and had one child:

Frederick W. Elford died May 6, 1942, aged 66 years, and Margaret V. Strong Elford died September 18, 1968, aged 87 years in Carman, Manitoba and are interred at Carman Cemetery.

Frederick W. Elford
June 24, 1875 ~ May 6, 1942
The death occurred at his home in Carman Wednesday morning shortly after midnight, of Frederick William Elford, a well known resident of Carman and district for sixty years. He was in his 67th year and had been in ill health for a considerable time. Mr. Elford was held in high regard throughout the community and there is deep regret in his passing. He had been ill more than a year with heart trouble.
The funeral will take place Friday afternoon. A service will be conducted at Carman United Church at 2:30 and burial will be made in Carman cemetery. At the cemetery the Masonic funeral rites will be conducted by Carman Lodge.
Mr. Elford was born in Hampton, Ontario, in 1875 and came to Carman with his parents in 1882. After farming for many years in Central district, where his father homesteaded, he moved into Carman in 1918 and had resided here since, engaging in the drayling business for many years.
Mr. Elford was married in 1912 to Margaret Strong of Carman.
Surviving him are his wife and daughter, Shirley; also three sisters and one brother: Mrs. T. G. Finn of Vancouver, B.C.; Mrs. M. L. Burbank of Toronto; Mrs. Walter Shuttleworth and R. T. Elford of Carman. Carman Dufferin Leader, May 7, 1942.
Margaret V. Strong Elford
Jult 10, 1881 ~ September 18, 1968
Funeral service was held at Doyle’s Chapel, Saturday, September 21, for Margaret Elford of Carman, who died at Carman Memorial hospital, September 18, at the age of 87. Rev. J. A. McLachlan conducted the service. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Carman.
Pallbearers were six nephews: Don and Floyd Kennedy, and Sid Steinsvik of Graysville; Mossey, Elvin and Len Swanton of Carman.
Born Margaret Violet Strong of Little Brittain, Ont., in 1881, she came to the Carman area with her parents in 1899. The family farmed in the Barnsley and Tobacco Creek areas.
In 1912 she married Fred W. Elford and they farmed in this area before moving to Carman about 1925. Mr. Elford predeceased her in 1942.
Mrs. Elford was an active member of Carman United Church during her lifetime in this area. Ill health curtailed her activities in recent years.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Percy Oughton (Shirley) of Carman, and by three grandchildren.
Also surviving is one brother, Hugh Strong of Winnipeg, and one sister, Mrs. J. Kennedy of Graysville. Carman Dufferin Leader, Sept. 26, 1968.
