Margaret Charlotte Rogers  (1873 ~ 1963)

 

4.2.4.2. Second child of Elizabeth A. Elford and Charles Rogers, Margaret Charlotte Rogers, was born June 21, 1873, in Hampton, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.  

  She married John Augustin Riley, son of Hugh Riley and Frances Dempsey, May 24, 1902, in Bowmanville, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario and had one child: 

 

  • (4.2.4.2.1)  John Rogers  (1903 ~ 1999)  

 

  Margaret C. Rogers Riley died February 12, 1963, aged 89 years, and John A. Riley died June 20, 1939, aged 69 years in Chicago, Illinois, U.S. and are interred at Graceland Cemetery.

Margaret C. Rogers Riley

June 21, 1873 ~ February 12, 1963

Services for Dr. Margaret Rogers Riley, 89 a retired Chicago physician, were held Saturday, February 16, in the Mueller Funeral Home, Chicago. Interment was in Graceland Cemetery, Chicago. 

She suffered a fatal heart attack Tuesday, February 12, 1963, while having dinner at her home 6307 N. Louise.

   Dr. Riley was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rogers of Darlington. She served as a physician for the Chicago Board of Health from 1900 to 1940.

  Her husband Dr. John A., who died in 1939 at the age of 69, also was a physician for the Board of Health for many years.

  Surviving are a son, John R. Riley of Oregon, Illinois; two brothers and three sisters, Herbert Rogers and Mrs. W. G. Morrison, Church St., Bowmanville; Mrs. George Holmes, Mrs. G. M. VanNest and Robert H. Rogers, all of California. Bowmanville Statesman, Feb. 27, 1963.

 

John A. Riley

October 6, 1869 ~ June 20, 1939

Dr. John Augustin Riley, a physician for forty-four years, died yesterday in his home at 6307 Louise Avenue after several weeks’ illness. Dr. Riley was graduated from Rush Medical college in 1895. His widow, Dr. Margaret Rogers Riley, also a physician, and a son, John Rogers Riley, survive. Services will be held in the chapel at 5501 North Ashland Avenue at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
