----- MARRIAGE -----
DeNure—Wight
The home of Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Wight, of Wellington, bright with autumn flowers, was the scene of a pretty when their only daughter, Evelyn Agnes, was married to Mr. James Ivan DeNure, of Gananoque, youngest son of Mrs. C. R. DeNure, of Gravenhurst, and the late Mr. C. R. DeNure.
The Rev. L. S. Wight, Belleville, uncle of the bride, was the officiating clergyman. The ceremony was performed beneath an arch banked with crimson foliage, ferns and autumn flowers, and the wedding music was played by Mrs. R. A. Wight, Hillier, aunt of the bride. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was a picture of loveliness in a gown of white bridal satin, fashioned on princess lines, with Peter Pan collar and tiny satin buttons. The yoke was of Alencon lace and the long fitted sleeves ended in points of lace. Her tulle veil fell softly from a halo held in place by a wreath of orange blossoms and seed pearls. She wore silver slippers and carried a shower bouquet of pink roses and bouvardia tied with a silver bow. During the signing of the register Miss Lela DeNure, Gravenhurst, sister of the groom, sang, “I Love You Truly”.
Following the ceremony a buffet luncheon was served by Mrs. N. A. Tice, Mrs. T. Smith, Mrs. W. Wight, Mrs. R. A. Wight, Mrs. G. Newson, Miss Dorothy Sprague, Miss Iola Wight and Miss Marjorie Pearson. The bride’s mother received wearing a gown of American rust crepe with yoke insertions of black net, and corsage of talisman roses. The groom’s mother was unable to be present.
The groom’s gift to the bride was a yellow filigree bracelet, to the organist a black leather bag and to the soloist a yellow gold pendant.
Amid showers of confetti and good wishes the happy couple left by motor for Ottawa and northern Ontario, returning by way of Muskoka Lakes. For traveling thebride wore a tailored suit of navy blue with matching accessories and Boy Blue coat. Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. DeNure will reside at 115 William Street, Gananoque.
