ENNISKILLEN.

Mr. Lewis Gilbert who has been ill for a long time “fell asleep in Jesus” on Saturday morning after a week of great suffering borne with Christian resignation. Deceased has for some years been an active worker for the Master, and although called to his reward while still young in years has not lived in vain, having accomplished more in a few years he has been alive in Christ than many who have lived out the allotted years of a man. For him “to die in vain” for he has been promoted to the courts of heaven. A very large concourse of people followed the remains to the Hampton Cemetery on Monday afternoon. The funeral obsequies were conducted by the Rev. S. Salton who preached in the Methodist church where the services was held, a very impressive discourse full of comfort and consolation to all Christian people. Great sympathy is felt for the bereaved family as less then five months ago the eldest daughter, Mrs. Tyreman, died of the same disease—consumption. Bowmanville Statesman, Mar. 6, 1889.
