He was born February 4, 1923 and was raised in Humboldt, Saskatchewan. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lucy (Knittig), his son-in-law, Lorne Hoag, and many close friends and family from the extended Adams, Knittig and Kurtenbach families. Dad was a devoted husband, father, family man and friend. Harold is survived by his sister, Vivian Phillips, his brother-in-law, Wilfred Kunz, his sister-in-law, Charmaine Adams, his brother-in-law, Charles Ritchie, his three children, Jane Hoag of Winnipeg, Sandra Lees (Alan) of Vernon and Donald Adams (Kathryn) of Saskatoon, nine grandchildren, Kevin (Kathryn), David (Carol), Darren (Dobra), Stephen (Anna), Trevor, Jana (Mike), Sophie, Paige and Matthew, and four great-grandchildren, Annika, Lucas, Wesley and Charlie. Dad enjoyed outdoor pursuits from gardening and cross country skiing to fishing, hunting and camping. Always active, he taught us the simple things were the most important in this life, whether it be a hot cup of coffee, the sharing of an evening campfire, the morning sun on your face or the pleasure of visiting with family, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Donald Stefiuk, Dr. Otto Moodley and their excellent staff. As well, to Marlene Rochelle and the staff at Trinity Manor in Stonebridge for the love and compassionate caring given to Dad over the last four years; to Darlene Chappell and the caring staff at Bayshore Home Health; and to Dr. Vivian Walker, Dr. Edward Zacker and the staff at St Paul’s Palliative Care. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the St Paul’s Hospital Hospice “Close to Home” Campaign. “When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand. That an angel came and called my name, and took me by my hand; The angel said my place was ready, in Heaven far above, and that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through Heaven’s Gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down, smiled at me, and told me “welcome home.” So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we are far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.” - Unknown.
