Jabez John Souch  (1855 ~ 1930)

 

4.4.4. Fourth child of Dorothy Elford and William Souch, Jabez John Souch, was born June 29, 1855, in Enniskillen, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.

  He married Mina Adeline Bradley, son of Thomas Bradley and Permelia Halstead, October 11, 1881, in Enniskillen, Ontario and had four children: 

 

 

  Jabez J. Souch died March 22, 1930, aged 73 years and Mina A. Bradley Souch died August 2, 1929, aged 70 years in Langdon, Cavalier Co., North Dakota and are interred at Lebanon Cemetery.

Jabez J. Souch

June 29, 1855 ~ March 22, 1930

J. J. Souch, a former resident of Darlington Township, died suddenly at his home, Langdon, North Dakota, on Saturday, March 22, 1930, about 8 p.m., following a stroke suffered in a business place shortly after noon that day.  J. J. Souch was born on the old homestead on 7th Con., Lot 24, Darlington.

  He was the second son of William and Dorothy Souch, and was 74 years of age. He was married to Miss Mina Adeline Bradley who predeceased him 7 months and 20 days. After their marriage they lived in Winnipeg for several years, and in 1882 they took up a homestead in Cavalier County, North Dakota. After moving to Langdon he was engaged in the produce business.

  He was a member of the Masonic Order Lebanon, No. 24, and Langdon Lodge of Perfection, No. 8, and was a faithful member of the Methodist Church from which he was buried.

  He is survived by four children: Mrs. Cora Smith of Malta, Mont., Mrs. Eva Reeve, of Winnipeg, Man., Mrs. Doris Strickley of Success, Va., and Tracy Souch of Smackover, Ark.; also two brothers and three sisters, S. E. Souch, Stettler, Alta., Mrs. Charles Pearn, New Westminster, B.C., Mrs. Laura Pye, Enniskillen, Ont., Miss Eva Souch, Bowmanville, Ont., and C. W. Souch, Hampton, Ont.

  Rev. C. T. Ensign assisted by Rev. C. A. McKay took charge of the service at the Methodist Church. The remains were interred in the Lebanon Cemetery, Langdon, North Dakota. Bowmanville Statesman, Apr. 10, 1930.

 

Mina A. Bradley Souch

April 2, 1859 ~August 2, 1929

Mrs. J. J. Souch, aged 70 years, passed away at the home in Langdon at an early hour Friday evening, August 2, 1929, following two months’ illness that was the culmination of a stroke of paralysis suffered five years ago. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Langdon Sunday morning at 11 o’clock by Rev. E. E. Duden, pastor of the Cando M.E. Church, assisted by Rev. Duncan Matheson, temporary pastor of the Langdon Presbyterian Church, and special music was furnished by a ladies’ quartette consisting of Mrs. Fred Hawley, Mrs. M. J. Backes, Mrs. John Milne Jr., Mrs. James Cheatley. Members of the Eastern Star, of which order the deceased was a charter member, past matron and life member, attended the services in a bdoy, and Wm. Stevenson, Hugh McDowall, J. D. Milne, G. M. Mossing, Henry Albrecht, Robert Murie, members of the Masonic order, were pallbearers. Interment was in Lebanon Cemetery.

  Mina Adeline Bradley was the youngest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bradley, and she was born in Darlington, April 2, 1859, and was married there in 1881 to Jabez J. Souch, the husband who survives. 

  Surviving relatives besides her husband, are three daughters, Mrs. Cora Smith of Malta, Mont.; Mrs. Eva Reeve of Winnipeg, Man.; Mrs. Doris Strickley of Success, Va.; and one son, Tracy Souch of Smackover, Ark.; two brothers, A. L. Bradley of Bellevue, Wash.; Henry Bradley of Madill, Okla.; two sisters, Mrs. S. E. Souch of Stettler, Alta.; and Mrs. Jos. Cole of Red Deer, Alta. Bowmanville Statesman, Aug. 22, 1929.
