Isabel Mary Adams  (1922 ~ 2005)

 

4.4.4.2. First child of Robert Adams and Roxy Cook, Isabel Mary Adams, was born July 17, 1922, in Nottawasaga Twp., Simcoe Co., Ontario. 

  She married Norman Alexander McQueen, son of Malcolm McQueen and Annie Jane Moore, July 3, 1948*, in Barrie, Ontario, and had five children:

  • (4.4.4.2.3)  Sharon Isabel  (1952 ~ 1952)

  • (4.4.4.2.5)  Jeanne Winnifred  (1955 ~ )

 

  Isabel M. Adams McQueen died August 30, 2005, aged 83 years and Norman A. McQueen died September 21, 1981, aged 56 years in Collingwood, Ontario and are interred at Trinity United Cemetery.

The marriage took place in Barrie on Saturday, July 3, 1948, with Rev. James Ferguson of the Presbyterian Church officiating, of Isabel Mary, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Adams, to Norman Alexander McQueen, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. N. McQueen.

  The bride was wearing a white silk jersey frock and white accessories.

 After their wedding trip to Toronto, they will live in Collingwood. Collingwood Enterprise-Bulletin, July 15, 1948.

Isabel M. Adams McQueen

Isabel Mary (Adams) McQueen passed away at Bay Haven Nursing Home, Collingwood on Tuesday, August 30, 2005Isabel McQueen was in her 84th year. Beloved Mother of Sheila & James McCarthy (Creemore), Susan Mather (Stayner), Norman & Janine McQueen (Flesherton) and Jeanne & Roger McGillvray (Brentwood). Loving Nana of Angela & Melissa, Aaron, Adam, Jason & Jeremy & Amy & Ryan. Loving Great-Nana to Stephanie, Quinlan, and Brendan. Predeceased by daughter Sharon & parents Robert & Roxie Adams & brother James. A Memorial Service was held at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Nottawa on Saturday, September 3, 2005 followed by a private family intern-ment at Trinity United Cemetery, Collingwood. If so desired, donations to C.N.I.B., Guide Dogs of Canada or Canadian Cancer Society in her memory would be appreciated. Stayner Sun, Sept 7, 2005.

 

Norman A. McQueen

February 5, 1925 ~ September 21, 1981

Rev. Douglas Wilson of the First Presbyterian Church in Collingwood conducted the funeral of Norman Alexander McQueen at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Collingwood on September 24, 1981.

  Mr. McQueen died in the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, September 21, 1981, in his 57th year.

  The late Mr. McQueen was born in Singhampton on February 5, 1925 to Malcolm McQueen and Anne Jane Moore.

  He attended school in Collingwood at Connaught Public and Victoria Public and Collingwood Collegiate.

   Mr. McQueen worked in the Collingwood Shipyards and the Clyde Aircraft plant in the skilled trades and tool and die departments.

  He was a keen sportsman and enjoyed curling, swimming, skating and horseback riding.

  He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was predeceased by daughter Sharon, brother William and his parents.

  He is survived by three sisters, Bernice, Mrs. H. Knoweles and Mrs. E. Tomes.

  Pallbearers were three cousins and three nephews; Donald Freethy, David McQueen, Douglas McQueen, Stephen McQueen and Keith McQueen.

  Many floral tributes were received and gifts to the Heart Fund, Gideon Bibles and Cancer Fund were also noted.

At the General and Marine Hospital on Sunday, April 27, 1952, Sharon Isabel McQueen, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman McQueen, age 1 month, 23 days. Collingwood Enterprise-Bulletin, May 1, 1952.
