4.4.5.1. First child of George Adams and Christena I. McGillivary, George Adams, was born January 23, 1914, in Nottawasaga Twp., Simcoe Co., Ontario.

He married Jean Eleanor Murphy, daughter of Moses Murphy and Susanna Morton, September 24, 1949, in Collingwood, Simcoe Co., Ontario and had two children:

George Adams died September 29, 2010, aged 96 years and Jean E. Murphy Adams died October 24, 2008, aged 92 years in Collingwood, Ontario and are interred at Singhampton Cemetery.

A candle light ceremony took place on Saturday, September 24, 1949 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of All Saints Church, when Jean Eleanor, daughter of Mrs. Murphy and the late Mr. M. Murphy became the bride of George Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Adams, with Rev. E. Ralph Auy officiating.

The bride wore a tailored tulle of navy blue gabardine with burgundy accessories and a corsage of white gardenias. Miss Frances Murphy, in a maroon suit and navy accessories and a corsage of talisman roses, was her sister’s only attendant, Mr. Kenneth Doherty was best man.

Following the ceremony an informal reception was held at the Breakers Lodge, Sunset Point. Collingwood Enterprise-Bulletin, Oct. 13, 1949.

George Adams

Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital.

George Adams was born 96 years ago (January 23, 1914) at his parents (George Adams & Christina McGillvary) farm in the MacMurchy Settlement District, on the Tenth Line in Nottawasaga Township.

Beloved husband of the late Jean Adams. Loving father of Nancy and her husband Barry Cripps and Julie and her husband Pat Cain. Cherished grandfather of Sean (Bree), Rebecca (Dave), Kelly (Scott) and Randi (Mark). Proud great grandfather of Keith, Anthony, Piper and Robert.

George is predeceased by his brother Robert and sister Catherine; survived by his sister-in-law Isobel.

Jean E. Murphy Adams

March 29, 1916 ~ October 24, 2008

Jean Eleanor Adams passed away on Friday, October 24, 2008 in her 93rd year. Devoted wife of George Adams; loving mother of Nancy (Barry) Cripps and Julie (Pat) Cain; cherished grandmother of Sean (Leslie), Rebecca, Kelly (Scott) and Randi (Mark); great grandmother of Keith and Anthony. Jean will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008 from 12-1 p.m. at All Saints Anglican Church, 32 Elgin Street Collingwood followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment Singhampton Cemetery.
