VANSTONE—In Winnipeg, on Tuesday, April 29, 1884, Byron Samuel Vanstone, third son of Mr. Samuel Vanstone, aged 22 years and 4 months. Service will be held at the family residence, King St., Bowmanville, to-morrow, (Saturday), at 2:30 p.m. The funeral will leave for the Cemetery at 8 p.m. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.

We regret to announce that Mr. Byron S. Vanstone,—whose illness, at Winnipeg, we noted last week—has passed away. Much sympathy is felt for the family in their sad bereavement. He was a young man of unusual ability, and had every prospect of making a mark in the world, but death has sadly and suddenly blighted all such hopes. His bereaved father is expected here today with the remains. The interment takes place tomorrow afternoon at 3 o’clock. On Tuesday evening last the Division of Sons of Temperance, here, passed the following resolution of sympathy:—Moved by Bro. R. Windatt, seconded by Bro. T. Jeffery,—That this Division receives with deep feelings of sympathy, the sad intelligence of the second sore bereavement which has befallen our esteemed W. P., Bro. A. L. Vanstone, during his brief incumbency of office; first, by the death of his first born son, two weeks ago, and today, far from friends and home, in the distant city of Winnipeg, a beloved brother, a young man of estimable character and bright promise, who, while a resident of this town, was also a zealous and efficient worker in this Division, and whose remains, in charge of this heart-stricken father, we are advised, leave that city, for this town, while we are here assembled. That we tender the Worthy Patriarch, and his sorrowing friends, this expression of our heart-felt sympathy; and as amark of our respect for them, and the deceased, we resolve to attend the funeral in a body, and that the Worthy Associate, the Recording and Financial Scribes, be a special Committee to make all necessary preparations therefore. Carried unanimously. Bowmanville Statesman, May 2, 1884.
