Frederick Carlos Tilley  (1871 ~ 1876)

 

4.5.4.4. Fourth child of Selina A. Vanstone and William E. Tilley, Frederick Carlos Tilley, was born c. 1871, in Tyrone, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.

  Frederick C. Tilley died July 10, 1876, aged 5 years in Tyrone, Ontario and is interred at Bowmanville Cemetery.

Frederick C. Tilley

1871 ~ July 10, 1876

TYRONE. A very sad accident occurred in the village of Tyrone last Monday afternoon, whereby Freddy, a son of W. E. Tilley, teacher of this town, was instantly killed. It appears that a number of young lads were in swimming in the mill-pond, and deceased was watching them, when a pile of lumber fell over, killing him instantly. We need hardly add that the bereaved parents have our deepest sympathy in this severe trial. An inquest washeld by Coroner Davidson, when the following verdict was rendered:— 

   “We, the jurors, find that Frederick Carlos Tilley, being about 6 or 7 years of age, on July 10, 1876, came to his death by a pile of lumber falling on him accidentally.” Bowmanville Statesman, July 13, 1876.
