----- MARRIAGE -----

Vanstone—Cawker

A very pretty but quiet wedding was celebrated at the residence of Mr. C. M. Cawker, “Norway Cottage” Wednesday, February 20, 1907, when his eldest daughter Miss Alice M. Cawker and Mr. Frederick C. Vanstone were united in marriage. The ceremony was performed by Rev. William Joliffe in front on a bank of choice plants, flowers and ferns. While the Mendelssohn wedding march was being rendered by Miss May Vanstone, sister of the groom, the bride entered the drawing room leaning on the arm of her father and was attended by her sister Miss M. Adelaide Cawker. Mr. Byron S. Vanstone ably assisted his brother as groomsman. The bride was beautifully gowned in cream silk sublime over cream silk taffeta wearing a veil caught with orange blossoms and carried a shower of bouquet of cream roses and lily of the valley, her only ornament being a diamond sunburst, the gift of the groom. The bridesmaid wore a very dainty gown of white Persian lawn and carried a beautiful shower bouquet of pink roses. After partaking of a dainty dejeuner the bride and groom left on the 7:33 p.m. train amid showers of rice and confetti for Toronto, Niagara Falls and Buffalo. The bride’s travelling suit was tailor-made blue broadcloth with hat to match. The many beautiful gifts presented testify to the esteem in which the bride and groom are held, some coming from Winona, Miss., Pennsylvania, Medicine Hat, Alberta, Manitoba, New York and Toronto. Many telegrams of congratulations were received. Mr. and Mrs. Vanstone will be home at “Cedar Cliff” after March 22nd. Bowmanville Statesman, Feb. 27, 1907.
