Gertrude Winona Vanstone  (1897 ~ 1932)

 

4.5.8.6. Sixth child of Arthur L. Vanstone and Annie S. Sinclair, Gertrude Winona Vanstone, was born July 26, 1897, in Brantford, Brant Co., Ontario.

 She married Alexander Crooks Ritchie, son of John Ritchie and Clara Elizabeth Lemon, August 17, 1920, in Brantford, Ontario

  Gertrude W. Vanstone Ritchie died September 27, 1932, aged 35 years and Alexander C. Ritchie died August 27, 1970, aged 74 years in Toronto, Ontario and are interred at

Vanstone—Ritchie

A quiet wedding took place in Wellington Street Methodist Church, Brantford, on August 17, 1920, when Gertrude Winona, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Vanstone, was united in marriage with Mr. Alexander C. Ritchie, Rev. W. G. Martin officiating. The bride looked charming in her travelling suit of navy blue tricotine with feather hat, and wearing a corsage bouquet of sunset roses and sweet peas. Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie left on a trip to Buffalo, Cleveland, and Detroit and on their return will reside in their new home at 126 Charlotte Street, Brantford. Mrs. Ritchie’s many relatives and friends in West Durham join in heartiest congratulations. Bowmanville Statesman, Aug. 26, 1920.

Gertrude W. Vanstone Ritchie

July 26, 1897 ~ September 27, 1932

Mrs. Gertrude Ritchie, 35, wife of Alexander Ritchie, died this morning at her residence, 434-B Giles Blvd. W., after a brief illness. She was born in Brantford, and had lived in the Border Cities for 12 years.

 Besides her husband, she is survived by one brother, Russell Vanstone, and an aunt, Mrs. M. G. Fissett, both of Brantford.

  Funeral services will be held at her late residence at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon, with Rev. H. M. Paulin, pastor of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, officiating. Windsor Star, Sept. 27, 1932.
