Clarinda Elford (1854 ~ 1934)
4.6.2. Second child of Peter Elford and Grace Philp, Clarinda Elford, was born April 11, 1854, in Solina, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.
She married Ernest John Norris, son of John Norris and Harriet Chalk, February 25, 1891, in Henry, Codrington Co., Dakota, U.S. and had two children:

Clarinda Elford Norris died September 10, 1934, aged 80 years and Ernest J. Norris died May 25, 1935, aged 84 years in Henry, South Dakota, U.S. and are interred at Lorinda Cemetery.

Clarinda Elford Norris
April 11, 1854 ~ September 10, 1934
Mrs. E. J. Norris passed away Monday, September 10, 1934, after a short illness following paralytic strokes suffered recently. Clarinda Elford was born in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada, April 11, 1854, where she grew to womanhood. In 1883 she came to Dakota Territory and filed and proved up on a homestead four miles west of Henry. On February 25, 1891, she was united in marriage to E. J. Norris. To this union was born two children, Mrs. Ida Reineke and Edgar Norris.
Mr. and Mrs. Norris made their home on a farm west of Henry until the fall of 1922, when they moved to Henry where they have since resided.
Mrs. Norris was a life long member of the Methodist Episcopal church and a charter member of that denomination’s church here in Henry.
Besides the husband and two children, she leaves two step children, Mrs. Lovedy Skells and Wilfred Norris, ten grand children and a host of friends to mourn her death.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Norval Luke at the Methodist church and the remains laid to rest in the Lorinda cemetery. Friends from out of town present were: Mrs. George Dawling, Clark, S. Dak., Mrs. C. C. Smith, Mrs. Harold Hof, Mrs. Charles Aldous and Mrs. Clifford Glidden of Watertown. Bowmanville Statesman, Sept. 27, 1934.
