Isabella Adams  (1857 ~ 1944)

 

4.7. Seventh child of James Adams and Jane English, Isabella Adams, was born December 27, 1857, in Cartwright Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.

  She married Joseph Samuel Montgomery, son of James Montgomery and Eliza Armstrong, April 4, 1883, in Orillia, Simcoe Co., Ontario, and had eight children:  

 

 

  Isabella Adams Montgomery died July 2, 1944, aged 86 years and Joseph S. Montgomery died March 30, 1926, aged 69 years in Tay Twp., Simcoe Co., Ontario and are interred at Waverley United Church Cemetery.

Isabella Adams Montgomery

On Sunday evening, July 2, 1944, Mrs. Isabel Adams Montgomery one of the pioneers of Wyebridge and district, died at the home of her son, Herbert Montgomery. She came to this district as a young woman, and married Joseph Montgomery of Tay who predeceased her eighteen years ago [1926].

  The funeral service, conducted by Mr. Higginson of Victoria Harbour, was held Wednesday afternoon at her home. Interment was at Waverley Cemetery. The pallbearers were six nephews, Fred and Edwin DeNure, Fred and James Archer, Munroe and George Adams. Friends were present from St. Catharines, Hamilton, Peterborough, Stayner and Collingwood.

  She leaves to mourn her loss, one sister, Margaret Adams, three sons, Herbert and Walter of Tay and Roy of Toronto. A son, Charles, died in the Great War, three daughters, (Lela) Mrs. J. Colwill of Vasey, (Ena) Mrs. Mervin Grigg and (Margaret) Mrs. Elwood Fagan of Tay, also numerous grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Midland Free Press, July 12, 1944.
