Walter John Herman Montgomery

4.7.3. Third child of Isabella Adams and Joseph Samuel Montgomery, Walter John Herman Montgomery, was born July 9, 1887, in Tay Twp., Simcoe Co., Ontario.
He married Eliza Jane “Maud” McMann, daughter of Josiah McMahon and Mary Jane Wilson, January 27, 1915, in Victoria Harbour, Tay Twp., Simcoe Co., Ontario and had three children:

Walter J. Montgomery died August 31, 1962, aged 75 years and Maud McMann Montgomery died February 27, 1947, aged 62 years in Midland, Ontario and are interred at Lakeview Cemetery.

Walter J. Montgomery
A Tay Township resident all his life, Walter J. H. Montgomery died August 31, 1962 at St. Andrews Hospital, Midland.
Funeral services was held September 1, 1962, at A. Barrie and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. R. G. Lindsay officiated. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery, Midland.
Pallbearers were Archer Colwill, Grant Fagan, Orville Fagan, Kenneth McMann, Harold McMann, and Albert Blythe.
Walter Montgomery was born July 9, 1887 in Tay Township and was educated at Ebenezer. In 1915 he married Maud McMann.
A member of the United Church, Mr. Montgomery had served as its treasurer for 35 years. Farming all his life, he had held offices of school trustee and councillor of Tay Township Council as well as the position of reeve.
Predeceased by his wife in 1947 he is survived by two daughters, Vera, (Mrs. Thomas Blair), Wyebridge and Audrey, (Mrs. Ross Knight), of Maple and nine grand-children.
Also surviving are two sisters, Ena, (Mrs. M. Grigg), Midland and Marjorie, (Mrs. E. Fagan), Stroud and two brothers, Herb of Wyebridge and Roy, Vasey.
Relatives and friends attended the funeral from St. Catharines, Toronto, Maple, Peterborough, Port Perry, Collingwood, Stroud, and Orillia. Midland Free Press, Sept. 26, 1962.
Maud McMahon Montgomery
October 6, 1884 ~ February 27, 1947
Life-time resident of Ebenezer, Mrs. Walter Montgomery passed away Thursday, February 27, 1947 from a sudden attack of influenza. She was born Maud McMahon, 62 years age at Elliot’s Corners where were was also educated. She married Walter Montgomery in 1915 in Victoria Harbour. Mrs. Montgomery was an active member of the Ladies’ Aid of the Ebenezer United Church.
Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her husband and two daughters, Audrey in Toronto and Mrs. Thomas Blair of Midland, one sister, Mrs. David Palmer of Toronto and three brothers, Tom McMahon in Midland, and Levi and David in the township of Tay.
Funeral service were held last Saturday at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Blair, 306 Second Street with Rev. J. H. Anderson and Rev. W. R. Auld in charge of the service. Interment was made in Lakeview Cemetery.
Pallbearers were six nephews, Harold, Kenneth and Herman McMahon, Arthur Caldwell, Grant and Orville Fagan. Relatives and friends attending the funeral from a distance included: Mr. and Mrs. David Palmer, Mrs. Harold Nadeau, Mrs. George Bradley, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lewis, Jack Lewis and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Montgomery, all from Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Gibson, Arthur Gibson, and Mrs. Howard Carsden, from Stayner; Mr. and Mrs. Fred DeNure of Port Perry; Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
