Vera Marjorie Montgomery  (1918 ~ 1997)

 

4.7.3.2. Second child of Walter J. Montgomery and Maud McMann, Vera Marjorie Montgomery, was born November 2, 1918, in Tay Twp., Simcoe Co., Ontario. 

  She married Thomas Henry Blair, son of William Blair and Ellen Eleanor Reid, on December 23, 1939, in Toronto, Ontario and had four children:

  • (4.7.3.2.2)  Verena Anne  (1947 ~ 2013)  

  • (4.7.3.2.3)  Colleen June  (1949 ~ )

  Vera M. Montgomery Blair died September 13, 1997, aged 78 years and Thomas H. Blair died September 14, 1962, aged 53 years in Tay Twp., Ontario and is interred at Lakeview Cemetery, Midland, Ontario.

Vera M. Montgomery Blair

Vera M. Blair, passed away at her residence on Saturday, September 13, 1997, in her 79th year. Vera Montgomery of R.R.1, Wyebridge, beloved wife of the late Thomas Henry Blair. Dear mother of John Blair and his wife Beverley of Scarborough, Anne and her husband Allen Mosley of Wyebridge, Colleen and her husband Rod Graham of Wyebridge and Kathleen Blair of Midland. Loving grandmother of Kerry, Thomas, Adam, Aaron, April, Shawn and Michael. Sister of Audrey Knight of London. The family will receive friends at the Lynn-Carson Funeral Home, 290 First St., Midland on Sunday from 7-9 p.m., Monday 12-2 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel on Monday, September 15th at 2 p.m. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Midland. If desired, memorial donations to the Red Cross Homemakers Service, Community Living Huronia or the Ebenezer United Church would be appreciated. Midland Free Press, Sept. 17, 1997.

 

Thomas H. Blair

August 6, 1909 ~ September 14, 1962

Thomas Henry Blair, resident of this district for 35 years, died unexpectedly, September 14, 1962, at Lot 88, Con. 2, Tay Township. He was 53.

  Rev. R. G. Lindsey officiated at the funeral service held September 17, at A. Barrie and Sons funeral home. Pallbearers were Fred Fagan, Grant Fagan, Henry Forget, Arnold Tippin, Ernest Bates and Harold McClung.

  Mr. Blair was born August 6, 1909, in Ireland and he was educated there. In 1928 he came to Canada and spent the rest of his life in the district. On December 23, 1939, he married Vera M. Montgomery in Toronto. He sailed on the Great Lakes and worked at Midland Shipyard. Following that he farmed.

  A member of the United Church, he was Noble Grand of the I.O.O.F. in 1948, and held office of school trustee for S. S. No. 9 Tay for some years.

  Surviving are his wife Vera, son John, daughters Anne, Colleen and Kathleen all at home. Also surviving are one brother, Hugh Blair of Newtonards and two sisters Rebecca and Hessie all in Ireland.

  Relatives and friends attended the service from Toronto, Peterborough, Port Perry, Orillia, Phelpston, St. Catharines and the surrounding district.

  Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery. Midland Free Press, Oct. 5, 1962.
