Robert Ivan Roy Montgomery  (1893 ~ 1982)

 

4.7.6. Sixth child of Isabella Adams and Joseph Samuel Montgomery, Robert Ivan Roy Montgomery, was born February 25, 1893, in Tay Twp., Simcoe Co., Ontario. 

  He married Edith Louise Turl, daughter of Francis Turl and Lucinda Ross, on September 5, 1922, in Midland, Ontario and had five children:

  • (4.7.6.2)  Baby Boy  (1924 ~ 1924)  

  • (4.7.6.3)  Iva Marie  (1926 ~ )  

  • (4.7.6.4)  Luella Matilda  (1927 ~ 2008)  

  • (4.7.6.4)  Roxie Fern  (1929 ~ 1930)  

 

  Roy Montgomery died October 10, 1982, aged 89 years in Toronto, Ontario and Edith L. Turl died August 20, 1967, aged 68 years in Victoria Harbour, Ontario are interred at Vasey Cemetery.

Edith L. Turl Montgomery

February 8, 1899 ~ August 20, 1967

The death occurred at Victoria Harbour, August 20, 1967, of Edith Louise Montgomery, wife of Robert Ivan Montgomery. She was 68.

  Funeral service was held from A. Barrie and Sons Funeral Home, August 23, 1967, with Rev. W. Allison Haynes officiating.  Interment was in Vasey Cemetery.

  Pallbearers were Archer Colwill, Orvil Fagan, Graham Jones, Arnold Ironside, Morely Edwards and Carson Brown.

  Daughter of the late Lucinda and Frank Turl, Mrs. Montgomery was born February 28, 1899 in Waverley and received her education there and in Vasey. She married her husband on September 5, 1922, in Midland, and left for Toronto where she had lived for 33 years. She had moved back to Vasey 12 years ago where she resided until her death. She was a member of the United Church.

  Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Iva Young and Luella Curtin, and six grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers in Herschel, Sask., John and Tom Turl. 

 Friends and relatives attending the service came from Herschel, Sask., Toronto, Scarborough, Orillia, Stroud and Peterborough. Midland Free Press, Sept. 6, 1967.
