Luella Matilda Montgomery  (1927 ~ 2008)

 

4.7.6.4. Fourth child of Roy Montgomery and Edith L. Turl, Luella Matilda Montgomery, was born July 4, 1927, in Toronto, Ontario.

  She married Grover Cleveland Edward Curtin, son of Grover Cleveland Curtin and Gladys Doris Louise “Daisy” Smith, November 29, 1947, in East York, York Co., Ontario and had four children:

  • (4.7.6.4.2)  Gary Edward  (1956 ~ )

  • (4.7.6.4.3)  Gail Bernice  (1956 ~ )

  • (4.7.6.4.4)  Wayne Grover  (1958 ~ )

 

  Luella M. Montgomery Curtin died May 24, 2008, aged 80 years, and Grover C. Curtin died April 6, 2012, aged 89 years, in Toronto, Ontario.

Luella M. Montgomery Curtin

Luella Curtin (nee Montgomery) passed away peacefully with her family by her side in her home that she loved so much on May 24, 2008Luella Curtin, of Toronto, beloved wife and best friend of 60 years to Grover Curtin. Born in Toronto on July 4, 1927 to the late Edith and Roy Montgomery. Cherished and much loved mother of Robert (Aileen), Gary (Lynn), Gail (Giulio), Wayne (Brenda) and daughter-in-law Heather. Proud and loving grandmother to Aaron, Justin, Luke, Jamie, Mark, Lisa, Shawn, Kirk, Michael and her great-grandchildren Axara and Colten. Dear sister to Iva of Whitby and the late Frank Montgomery. She will be fondly remembered by her sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. A beautiful flower whose bright smile and gentle nature touched and encouraged all who knew her. Luella's legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of generations of family and people proud to call her friend! Friends will be received at the Highland Funeral Home 3280 Sheppard Ave. East (just west of Warden) on Monday, May 26th, from 6-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A service will be held in our chapel on Wednesday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, flowers or donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. We will all love and miss you dearly. Toronto Star, May 25, 2008.

 

Grover C. Curtin

April 27, 1922 ~ April 6, 2012

Passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre on Friday, April 6, 2012. Grover Curtin of Toronto, beloved husband and best friend for over 60 years to the late Luella Curtin (May 24, 2008). Born in Toronto on April 27, 1922 to the late Gladys and Grover Curtin. Cherished and much loved father of Robert (Aileen), Gary (Lynn), Gail (Giulio) and Wayne (Brenda). Proud and loving grandfather to Aaron, Justin, Luke, Jamie, Mark, Lisa, Shawn, Kirk, Michael and his great-grandchildren Axara, Colten and Olivia. A former dispatch rider and Veteran of WWII, Grover served in North Africa, Italy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands before returning home to Canada where he found the love of his life and raised a loving family. Friends will be received at Highland Funeral Home, 3280 Sheppard Avenue East (west of Warden Avenue), on Monday from 6-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
