----- MARRIAGE -----

Elford—Cobbledick

The marriage of Miss Norma B. Elford and Mr. F. Lorne Cobbledick, only son of Job Cobbledick of Newcastle, was celebrated on Wednesday afternoon, September 8, 1915, at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. John Elford, Elgin St., Bowmanville. The ceremony was performed by the bride’s uncle, Rev. S. J. Allin of Clinton, in the presence of a few of the near relatives of the two families. The bride and bridegroom were unattended. Little Jack Elford, Buffalo, acted as ring bearer, and during the signing of the register, the two little nieces of the bride, Hazel and Ellen Elford, sang “I Love You So” with sweet voices. Mr. Glenn Strike, Morrisburg, a nephew of the bride, played the wedding march, and Mr. Arthur Elford, the bride’s eldest brother, accompanied her and gave her away. The bride’s dress was a becoming one of white silk crepe trimmed with shadow lace, and she carried a bouquet of white roses. Her going-away gown was a Belgian blue with hat to match. The groom’s present to the bride was a gold necklace with pendant of pearls and olivenes. After a dainty lunch Mr. and Mrs. Cobbledick left on the C.P.R. train for Toronto and other western points. They will return to their home in Newcastle in a couple of weeks. Bowmanville Statesman, Sept. 23, 1915.
