John Stanley Lilley  (1906 ~ 1993)

 

5.2.1.4. Fourth child of Charles J. Lilley and Mary McDonald, John StanleyJackLilley, was born October 13, 1906, in Sarnia, Lambton Co., Ontario. 

  He married Elizabeth Josephine Bunting, daughter of John Henry Bunting and Elizabeth McLees, June 2, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois and had one child:

  John S. Lilley died June 8, 1993, aged 86 years and Elizabeth J. Bunting Lilley died October 7, 2000, aged 90 years in Michigan City, Indiana and are interred at Rolling Prairie Cemetery.

John Stanley Lilley

John S. Lilley, 86, of the Michigan City Health Care Center, died at 3:20 a.m. today [June 8, 1993] at St. Anthony Hospital in Michigan City, Indiana.

  He retired in 1968 after 45 years as office manager in the foreign freight department of the New York Central Railroad.

  He was born October 13, 1906 in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada. He was a resident of Chesterton, Indiana for 49 years.

  On June 2, 1930, in Chicago, he married Elizabeth J. Bunting. She survives, as do daughter Marilyn A. Sytsma (husband Kenneth) of New Carlisle, a niece, several nephews and cousins. Two brothers and a sister predeceased him in death.

  A service is set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle. Burial is to be at Rolling Prairie Cemetery in Rolling Prairie, Indiana.

 Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service. Chesterton Tribune, June 8, 1993.

 

Elizabeth J. Bunting Lilley

December 26, 1909 ~ October 7, 2000

Elizabeth J. Lilley, 90, Michigan City, died at 9:55 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2000 at Michigan City Health Care Center.

  The funeral is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, New Carlisle, with the Rev. Michael Hiemer officiating. Burial is in Rolling Prarie Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

  Mrs. Lilley was born December 26, 1909 in Chicago to John Henry and Elizabeth McLees Bunting. On June 2, 1930, in Chicago, she married John S. Lilley, who died June 8, 1993.

  Survivors include one daughter, Marilyn A. (Kenneth H.) Sytsma, New Carlisle, one niece and two nephews

  Four sisters and one brother preceded her in death.

  Mrs. Lilley was an office worker with Fred S. James Insurance Co. in Chicago. Michigan City News Dispatch, Oct. 9, 2000.

 

Kenneth H. Sytsma

August 15, 1935 ~ April 29, 2003

Kenneth Herbert Sytsma, 67, of New Carlisle, Indiana died Tuesday, April 29, 2003 in LaPorte Hospital, LaPorte, Indiana.

  He was born August 15, 1935 in Chicago, the son of Thomas B. and Julia (Glassmeyer) Sytsma, who preceded him in death.

  On June 25, 1960 in Chesterton, he married Marilyn A. Lilley, who survives.

  He is also survived by two brothers, Thomas B. Sytsma, Jr. of Homestead, Fla. and Donald R. Sytsma of Loves Park, Ill. and by many nieces and nephews.

  He was the owner of Ken’s T.V. Service in New Carlisle for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Michiana Sky Raiders, Tri-Valley and South Bend R.C. flying clubs. He was also a ham radio operator, K9KS and a FCC licensed broadcast engineer.

  Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Friday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle. Interment will follow in Rolling Prairie Cemetery, Rolling Prairie.

  Visitation is scheduled from 9-11 a.m. in the funeral home Friday morning. Chesterton Tribune, May 1, 2003.
