Jennie Ellen Lilley (1870 ~ 1932)
5.2.2. Second child of Mary Adams and Charles Lilley, Jennie Ellen Lilley, was born April 8, 1870, in Sarnia, Lambton Co., Ontario.
She married Thomas Frederick Barton, son of Frederick George Richard Barton and Margaret Partridge, June 4, 1890, in Sarnia, Lambton Co., Ontario and had five children:

Jennie E. “Jane” Lilley Barton died in July 17, 1932, aged 62 years, in Richmond, Virginia and T. Frederick Barton died October 14, 1938, aged 71 years in Newport News, Virginia and are interred at Hollywood Cemetery.

Jennie E. Lilley Barton
Mrs. T. F. Barton, wife of the superintendent of motive power, of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, died suddenly yesterday morning, Sunday, July 17, 1932, at her home, Tuckahoe Apartments, Cary Street Road.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Miss Edna L. Barton of this City, and Mrs. D. H. Richmond, Huntington, W. Va.; three sons, C. Fred Barton, Montclair, N.J.; Marshall R. Barton, Franklin, Pa.; James D. Barton, Richmond, Va.

T. Frederick Barton
March 21, 1867 ~ October 14, 1938
Thomas Frederick Barton, former master mechanic on the Illinois Central System but more recently superintendant of motive power of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway Company, died suddenly of a heart attack on October 14, 1938 while attending a banquet at the James River Country Club in Newport News, Virginia. He was 71 years old.
The railroad official was born in London, England, on March 21, 1867 going to Canada with his parents when he was 3 years old and lived much of his life in Richmond. He was reared at Point Edward, Ontario, and he began his railway career with the Grand Trunk Railway in 1887, now part of the Canadian National Railways. Mr. Barton worked for the Illinois Central in the late 1880s as machinist, engine foreman and master mechanic at Burnside Shops, Chicago, at Water Valley, Miss., at Paducah, Ky., and then again at Chicago. He was in charge of engines during the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago. For six years he was with the Grand Trunk Railroad as machinist, locomotive fireman and journeyman; 10 years with the Illinois Central as machinist, general foreman, master mechanic and superintendent of shops, and 15 years with the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western as master mechanic.
He was married 45 years ago to Miss Jane Ellen Lilley of Sarnia, Ontario. Mrs. Barton died six years ago.
Mr. Barton came to Richmond eight years ago from Huntington, W. Va., where he had served as general master mechanic of the railroad’s western general division. In 1924 he was appointed general master mechanic of the Western division, and in 1930 he was appointed superintendent of motive power with headquarters in Richmond.
Mr. Barton and his family lived in the Tuckahoe Apartments.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Frederick Barton, Jr. of Montclair, N.J., Marshall Barton of Cincinnati, and James Barton of Huntington, W. Va., and two daughters, Miss Edna L. Barton of Richmond and Mrs. David Richmond of Huntington.
