December 22, 1881 ~ October 22, 1927
Burketon. A highly respected resident of this neighborhood, in the person of Mrs. Mabel Adams, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 1927, aged 45 years. She was a daughter of John and Mary Martin of Haydon, where she was born and where she lived until her marriage. The funeral service was held in Burketon Church and was attended by a large number of relatives, neighbors and friends who came to pay their respect to one who had struggled so bravely to bring up her family but had been cut off when they would have been able to repay, in a measure, her faithful care. Rev. E. B. Cook, Enniskillen, had charge of the service. Besides her aged parents she leaves four children, Earl, George, Charles and Bernice, also two brothers, Will and Gordon Martin and four sisters, Mrs. Elias Strutt, Mrs. Bone, Mrs. Wotten and Mrs. Ferguson. Many lovely flowers adorned the casket. Bowmanville Statesman, Nov. 24, 1927.
