William Wesley Adams  (1894 ~ 1955)

 

5.3.11. Eleventh child of Thomas Adams and Maria Bullied, William Wesley Adams, was born in March 29, 1894, in New Park, Clarke Twp., Durham Co., Ontario. 

  He married Rosanna Louisa "Rose" Hubbard, daughter of Joseph Josiah Hubbard and Susanna Powell, May 27, 1920*, in Toronto, Ontario.

 

  W. Wesley Adams died October 6, 1955, aged 61 years in Cartwright Twp., Durham Co., Ontario and Rosanna L. Hubbard Adams Barrington died April 23, 1989, aged 91 years in Oshawa, Ontario and are interred at Hampton Union Cemetery.

W. Wesley Adams

The death occurred October 6, 1955, at the home of Mr. Ivan Cochrane, in Cartwright Township, of Wesley Adams, in his 62nd year. Mr. Adams had not been well for some time.

  Born in Clarke Township in 1894, the deceased was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Adams.

  Mr. Adams served his country in World War I, overseas with the 89th Battalion. In his younger days he was very active with the local soccer teams. After his return from the war, he took to farming for a number of years, selling out in 1936. After that he was employed at different jobs, including carpenter work, etc. He was always willing to help anyone who needed him.

  He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Richard Winch (Maude) of Eyebrow, Sask., Mrs. George Patterson (Elizabeth) of Bowmanville and Mrs. Leonard Bullied (Eva) of Toronto and three brothers, Ernest of Burketon, Oscar of Roseneath and Zachariah of Bowmanville. He was predeceased by one sister and five brothers.

  Funeral service was conducted by Rev. Milton Sanderson, a boyhood chum, of Parkdale United Church, Toronto at the Northcutt and Smith Funeral Home, Bowmanville, on October 9, with many friends and relatives attending from this district, and also from Roseneath, Oshawa, Toronto and Conn, Ontario.

  The pallbearers were Adam Sharpe, Cecil Rahme, Leslie Cochrane, Bruce Ormiston, William Bentham and Wilfred Sanderson.

  The beautiful floral tokens were many, showing much respect to the one who had departed, and were willingly carried by nephews of the deceased. Interment was in the Hampton Cemetery. Bowmanville Stateman, Oct. 20, 1955.

 

Rose L. Hubbard Adams Barrington

February 20, 1898 ~ April 23, 1989

At Oshawa General Hospital, on Sunday, April 23, 1989, Rose Barrington (nee Hubbard) in her 92nd year. Wife of the late Tom Barrington and Wesley Adams. Sister of Cecil Hubbard and Amelia (Minnie) Hubbard. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Rested at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St., Bowmanville, Monday. Funeral service was held in the chapel on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Interment Hampton Union Cemetery. Bowmanville Statesman, Apr. 26, 1989.
