Charles Eugene Gordon Adams

(1928 ~ 1996)

 

5.3.13.4. Fourth child of I. Oscar Adams and Alice A. Gordon, Charles Eugene Gordon Adams, was born May 8, 1928, in Burketon, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario. 

  He married Ethel Georgina Beatty, daughter of George Benson Beatty and Ethel Maude Healey, March 14, 1953, in Warkworth, Ontario and had two children:

 

  • (5.3.13.2.3)  Benson Oscar  (1954 ~ )

  • (5.3.13.2.4)  Glenda Alice Maude  (1956 ~ )

 

  C. E. Gordon Adams died October 13, 1996, aged 68 years, in Roseneath, Ontario and Ethel G. Beatty Adams died August 11, 2009, aged 80 years, in Port Hope, Ontario and are interred at Merrill’s Cemetery, Roseneath, Ontario.

On Saturday, March 14, 1953, a quiet wedding was solemnized in St. Paul’s Church parsonage here with Rev. A. L. Sisco officiating, when Ethel Georgina Beatty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Beatty of Burnley and Charles Eugene Gordon Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Adams of Roseneath were united in marriage.

  The bride was attired in a navy suit with navy accessories and her attendant Miss Yvonne Adams, sister of the groom was also dressed in a navy suit. They carried bouquets of red roses.

  The groom was attended by Mr. Frank Beatty, brother of the bride.

  Following the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents with about forty guests present. Her mother receiving attired in a navy crepe gown assisted by the grooms mother in a rust coloured crepe dress.

  For travelling to western points the bride chose a mauve dress and beige coat and accessories. On their return they will reside in Burnley. Warkworth Journal, Mar. 18, 1953.

At his home, Alnwick Township, on Sunday, October 13, 1996, Gordon Adams of R.R.1, Roseneath in his 69th year. Beloved husband of Ethel Beatty. Dear father of Ben and his wife Helena of R.R.1, Roseneath and Glenda and her husband Gordon Townsend of Moonstone. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Melanie, Courtney and Brett Adams, Lee, Jamey and Chad Townsend. Dear brother of Laverne (Toots) and her husband Sid Barraball of Peterborough, Kenneth and his wife Eileen of Roseneath, Fay and his wife Glory of Orono, Yvonne (Bonnie) and her husband Neil George of Roseneath and the late Elmer and Milton. Brother-in-law of Mrs. Marion Adams of Orono. A service will be held at the Roseneath United Church on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Judith Borland officiating. Interment Merrill’s Cemetery, Roseneath. Ethel G. Beatty Adams

January 28, 1929 ~ August 11, 2009

Ethel Georgina Adams entered into rest at the Community Nursing Home, Port Hope on Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Ethel Adams (nee Beatty) of Port Hope and formerly of Roseneath in her 81st year. Daughter of the late Maude and George Beatty. Beloved wife of the late Gordon Adams. Loving mother of Glenda Townsend and her husband Gordon of Barrie and Ben Adams and his wife Helena of Roseneath. Ever remembered by her grandchildren; Melanie, Courtney, Brett, Lee, Jamey, Chad and great granddaughters; MacKenzie, Samantha and Sydney. Dear sister of Mildred Townsend of Cobourg and Bill Beatty of Warkworth. Predeceased by her sisters Eva Brown, Bernice Webb and brothers Arnold and Frank Beatty.
