Kenneth Oscar Adams  (1933 ~ 2017)

 

5.3.13.6. Sixth child of I. Oscar Adams and Alice A. Gordon, Kenneth Oscar Adams, was born February 13, 1933, nr. Coppins Corners, Uxbridge Twp., Ontario Co., Ontario. 

  He married (1) Nora Grace Duff, daughter of James Gordon Duff and Ellen Blodgett, October 7, 1950*, in Roseneath, Ontario and had two children:

  • (5.3.13.6.2)  Randy Fay  (1952 ~ )

 

  He married (2) Eileen Mabel Brown, daughter of Richard Milton Brown and Emily Viola Clendenning, August 21, 1965, in Orono, Ontario, and had two children:

 

  • (5.3.13.6.3)  Steven Douglas  (1968 ~ 1981)

  • (5.3.13.6.4)  Kenneth David  (1974 ~ 1974)

 

  Kenneth O. Adams died August 7, 2017, aged 84 years, in Warkworth, Ontario and Nora G. Duff Adams Stephen died December 19, 2008, aged 76 years, in Cobourg, Ontario.

The marriage was solemnized at the United Church Parsonage, Roseneath, on Saturday, October 7, 1950 when Nora Grace, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Duff, was united in marriage to Kenneth Oscar Adams, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Adams.

  The bride was wearing an ankle length dress debutante blue taffeta with a high neckline and short sleeves and the groom’s gift, a pearl necklace with matching earrings and a corsage of red carnations and fern.

  Mrs. Edward Reid was her sister’s bridesmaid in a similar gown of wine crepe with black accessories and corsage of pink carnations.

  Mr. Milton Adams, Orono, was groomsman.

  A reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, received by the bride’s mother, wearing navy flowered crepe assisted by the groom’s mother wearing navy crepe. Both wore corsages of ‘mums.

  Thirty relatives of the bridal party sat down to a wedding dinner at a table centred with a three-tier wedding cake. The waitresses were: Mrs. Sidney Barraball, Mrs. James Blackburn, and Miss Margaret Lemoire.

  The honeymoon trip was to Toronto and Western points.

  Among the out-of-town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. Edward Reid, Malton; Mrs. Sidney Barraball, Mrs. Milton Adams, Mr. Leslie Linton, Orono; Mr. Trevor Duff, Campbellford; Mrs. James Blackburn and Mr. Neil Duff, Hastings. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, Oct. 12, 1950.

On Saturday, August 21, 1965, at 2:30 p.m. in Orono United Church, the marriage was solemnized of Eileen Mable, daughter of Mrs. Emily Brown of Welland and the late Mr. Richard Brown, and Mr. Kenneth Oscar Adams of Orono, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Adams, Roseneath, and the late Mrs. Adams.

  The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Basil Long and the wedding music was played by Miss Peggy Hancock.

  Given in marriage by her uncle, Milton Clendenning, Fort Erie, the bride wore a floor length gown of white rayon peau de soie featuring a bodice of Chantilly lace, square neckline, lily-point sleeves and a bell shaped shirt. The back was highlighted by a detachable bowed decked nylon and lace train caught at the shoulder. A crown of crystal and pearl teardrops held her elbow-length veil of illusion tulle. She carried a bouquet of pink sweetheart roses and white stephanotis.

  Miss Shirley Andrews, maid of honour, wore a street-length dress of apricot sata-a-peau, with a scooped neckline, short sleeves and a side draped skirt. The bridesmaid, Miss Donna Brown of Welland, sister of the bride, wore a dress of the same style in a hedge green colour. Both wore matching floral headdresses and carried bouquets of yellow and white carnations.

  The best man was Mr. Dan Hall, and the ushers were Mr. Bob Barraball and Mr. Fred Duff of Hastings.

  The reception, following the ceremony, was held in the Orono Odd Fellows Hall. The mother of the bride received the guests wearing a pink dress and matching jacket with white accessories and a corsage of tiny red roses and white carnations.

  For her going-away ensemble, the bride chose a two-piece suit of light blue knitted cotton with white accessories and a corsage of pink sweetheart roses and white stephanotis. For a honeymoon trip the couple visited Quebec and points north.

  Out of town guests from Toronto, London, Dunnville, Welland, Hastings, Roseneath, Fort Erie, Oshawa and Newcastle attended the wedding.

  The couple will reside on Mill St., in Orono, Ont. Bowmanville Statesman, Oct. 27, 1965.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Adams at the Warkworth Place Nursing home while surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, August 7, 2017, in his 85th year. Son of the late Oscar and Alice Adams. Beloved husband of Eileen (nee Brown) for 52 years of marriage. Dear father of Larry (Debbie), Randy (Alice), Steven (late), and Kenny (late). Grandpa Ken of Mark (Angela), Crystal, and Angie (Ken), nine grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Survived by his brother Fay (Glory), sister Bonnie George (late Neil), and sisters-in-law Marion, Myrtle, Donna, June, and Susie (John). Predeceased by brothers Elmer (Grayce), Gordon (Ethel), and Milton, and sisters Gwendolyn, and Laverne (Toots) Barraball. Will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and community grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Weaver Family Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Warkworth on Thursday, August 10th, 2017 from 5-8p.m. Funeral service will be held from Roseneath United Church on Friday, August 11th, 2017 at 12noon with visitation one hour prior. Nora G. Duff Adams Stephen

February 11, 1933 ~ December 19, 2008

Peacefully at Northumberland Hills Hospital on Friday, December 19, 2008 at the age of 76 (or in her 77th year). Beloved wife of Glenn "Jr." Stephen. Loving mother to Larry (Debbie) Adams and Randy (Alice) Adams. Dear step-mother to Vaughn (Fran), Glenn, Cindy, Gregory and Janet. Cherised grandmother of Mark (Lynn), Crystal (Trevor) and Angie (Ken). Loved great grandmother to Mykenna, Annabell, Blake, Brena, Alex, Adam and Dusty. Survived by siblings Clayton (Barb) Duff, Olla Reid, Norma Blackbourn, Neil (Priscilla) Duff, Trevor (Ev) Duff, Fred (Anne) Duff and Bonnie Elder. Nora will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Steven D. Adams

August 14, 1968 ~ August 31, 1981

Steven Douglas Adams, son of Ken and Eileen Adams, born at Bowmanville Memorial Hospital, August 14, 1968.

  He lived in Roseneath his entire life and attended Roseneath Centennial School. Steven was entering grade 7 at Dale Road School. He also attended Roseneath United Church and Sunday School regularly.

   Steven was a Cub and later a Scout. He attended the all Canadian Scout Jamboree in Calgary, Alberta from July 1 to July 11, 1981.

  Steven died from a drowning accident at Rice Lake, August 31, 1981.

  Predeceased by baby brother Kenneth David Adams.

  Brother of Larry Adams of Orono and Randy Adams of Burlington.

  Grandson of Mrs. Emily Brown of Dunnville, uncle of Mark, Crystal and Angie Adams of Millbrook.

  Steven rested at the Allan Funeral Home in Warkworth.

  The funeral service conducted by Rev. William Stephenson was held in the Roseneath United Church on September 2, 1981, with interment in the family plot in Centenary Cemetery.

  Pallbearers were Larry Adams, Randy Adams, Don Adams, Ben Adams, Jim George and Randy Crowe. Cobourg Daily Star, Sept. 9, 1981.
