A pretty Easter wedding was solemnized at the United Church parsonage, Roseneath on Saturday afternoon, March 31, 1956, when Alice Yvonne (Bonnie) Adams, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Adams, Roseneath, became the bride of Neil Albert George, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John George, Roseneath.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. C. Luffman, Baltimore.
The bride chose for her wedding a waltz length gown of white chantilly lace and nylon net over bridal satin, the lace bolero had Peter Pan collar and long pointed sleeves. Her chapel length veil of embroidered nylon tulle illusion was heldin place with a matching halo. She carried a cascade bouquet of American Beauty Roses.
The matron of honor was Mrs. Sidney Barraball, sister of the bride, who wore a gown of line green nylon net and chantilly lace with matching headdress and carried an arm bouquet of American Beauty roses.
Ross Derry was groomsman.
Following the ceremony a reception and dinner for forty guests was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The rooms were tastefully decorated with pink and white streamers, wedding bells and Spring flowers.
The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a gown of navy crepe and lace with matching accessories. She was assisted by the groom’s mother wearing a gown of royal blue crepe and lace with black accessories. Both mothers wore identical corsages of talisman roses and fern.
The long dining table covered with an Irish linen cloth was centred with a four-tiered wedding cake flanked on either side with mixed Spring flowers.
The waitresses were girlfriends of the bride, Phyllis O’Connell, Mary Skuce, Patricia Hogg and June Skinkle under the supervision of Mrs. Fred Murphy and Mrs. Hector Winkworth.
For travelling the bride doned a two-tone tailored garbardine suit in navy and powder blue with cerise accessories. She wore a corsage of Johanna Hill roses. Cobourg Sentinel-Star, Apr. 5, 1956.
