Blaine Armstrong Adams  (1945 ~ 2023)

 

5.3.14.9. Ninth child of Zachariah D. Adams and Margaret S. Elford, Blaine Armstrong Adams, was born January 11, 1945, in Bowmanville, Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario. 

  He married Barbara Joan Browes, daughter of John Elmer Browes and Helen Margaret Devitt, November 29, 1969, in Bowmanville, Ontario and had two children:

  • (5.3.14.8.2)  Dallas Amanda  (1977 ~ )

 

  He had two more children with Janis Elaine Anderson Clarke and Janette Lee Wray:

  • (5.3.14.8.4)  Morgan Marie  (1994 ~ )

 

  Blaine A. Adams died July 1, 2023, aged 78 years, and Barbara J. Browes Adams Glass, died July 11, 2020, aged 72 years, in Oshawa, Ontario.

ADAMS—At Bowmanville Hospital on Thursday, January 11, 1945, to Mr. and Mrs. Z. Adams, twin boys, Bryce and Blaine. Bowmanville Statesman, Jan. 25, 1945.

Lovely arrangements of yellow and white ‘mums with turquoise tinted ‘mums enhanced Trinity United Church, Bowmanville, when Barbara Joan Browes and Mr. Blaine Armstrong Adams were united in marriage on November 29, 1969 at 4:30 o’clock in the afternoon. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Browes, Bowmanville, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Zack Adams of Oshawa.

  The officiating clergyman was Rev. G. K. Ward, and Mrs. Keith Billett of Bowmanville played the wedding music. Mrs. Lloyd Ayre, R.R.4, Bowmanville was the soloist.

  Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal length, empire-waisted gown of white sculptured velvet cut on straight lines and styled with rounded neckline, long lily-pointed sleeves and chapel velvet train. For jewellery she wore a white pearl necklace with matching earrings. Her should length veil fell from a headpiece of pearls and rhinestones, and she carried a bridal bouquet of red roses and white carnations.

  The bride’s maid of honor was Iris Reid of Oshawa and her bridesmaids were her sister-in-law, Mrs. Barry Browes of Hampton, and Mrs. Emerson Ellis of Bowmanville. All were attired in floor-length gowns of dark green velvet with long sleeves and empire waistline accented by turquoise roses. Turquoise baby ‘mums, white tinted to match the trim on their gowns, nestled in their coiffeurs, and their bouquets were of yellow and white ‘mums. White fox fur capes were worn by the bride and her attendants.

  Mr. Bryce Adams of Bowmanville, twin brother of the groom, was best man and ushering were Mr. Barry Browes of Hampton, brother of the bride, and Mr. Tom Wilson of Bowmanville.

  The reception was held at the Bowmanville Country Club where the bride’s mother received in a lace dress of melody moss green, with mink stole, gold accessories and corsage of rust ‘mums and yellow roses. She was assisted in receiving by the groom’s mother who chose a maroon velvet dress with matching hat, blac accessories and corsage of white carnations and gold roses.

  Following the reception the couple left for a brief honeymoon, and for travelling the bride wore a pink dress with black accessories. Mr. and Mrs. Adams are residing at 17 Centre St., Bowmanville.

  The bride attended Bowmanville High School and is employed by Chrysler Auto Trim in Ajax. The groom, who is employed by General Motors, Oshawa, also attended Bowmanville High School. Bowmanville Statesman, Jan. 21, 1970.

Blaine A. Adams

Peacefully passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa Survived by his twin brother David Bryce Adams. Loving father of Duane (Tracy), Dallas (Derek), Tom (Alice) and Morgan (Waylon). Cherished grandfather of Tessa, Wyatt, Ally and Starling. Predeceased by his parents Zachariah & Margaret Adams and siblings Ross (Peggy), Berwin (Ida), Wayburn (Noreen), Sam (Linda), Marguerite Beacock (Allan), Murray (Ada) and Garry. He will be remembered by his daily coffee friends, his many Legion friends and his family. Blaine was retired from General Motors. During his retirement people would often see him riding around town on his scooter, cleaning up garbage from Bowmanville Valleys, playing a game of golf or watching a ballgame on TV. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the nurses in the ICU at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. A Celebration of Life will be held at Bowmanville Royal Canadian Legion, 109 King Street East on Thursday July 20th from 2 – 8 pm. Memorial Donations may be made to The Poppy Fund. Barbara J. Browes Adams Glass 

May 19, 1948 ~ July 11, 2020

Passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday July 11, 2020 in her 72nd year.

  Loving partner of Al Gray. Cherished mother of Duane (Tracy) Adams and Dallas (Derek) Page. Adored grandmother of Tessa and Wyatt Page. Special friend of Dr. Grey and Gail. Barb will be sadly missed by her many friends.

  At Barb’s request no service will be held. Interment at Salem Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street North Bowmanville. August 18, 1961 ~ December 3, 2010

Age 49 years. Peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, December 3, 2010. 

   Beloved mother of Morgan. Dear daughter of Allan & Ruth Wray. Loving twin sister of Janice Wray and sister of Julie (Dale Knapp), Jill (Robin Battams), Jeffery Wray and Jason Wray. Special friend of Blaine Adams. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. 

  Visitation will be held at The Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division St. N. Bowmanville on Monday December 6, 2010 from 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday December 7, 2010 at 11am, with visitation one hour prior. Cremation. Interment Bowmanville Cemetery.
