Martha Jane Adams  (1884 ~ 1920)

 

5.3.4. Fourth child of Thomas Adams and Maria Bullied, Martha Jane Adams, was born February 10, 1884, in New Park, Clarke Twp., Durham Co., Ontario. 

  She married Richard Wesley Fowler, son of Edward Fowler and Eliza Jane Tennant, July 19, 1911, in Millbrook, Cavan Twp., Durham Co., Ontario and had eight children:

 

 

  Martha J. Adams Fowler died December 20, 1920, aged 36 years in Manvers Twp., Durham Co., Ontario and R. Wesley Fowler died June 7, 1963, aged 72 years in Oshawa, Ontario and are interred at Pontypool Cemetery.

R. Wesley Fowler

February 4, 1891 ~ June 7, 1963

The death of Richard Wesley Fowler, 34 Tecumseth Avenue, Oshawa, occurred Friday, June 7, 1963, at Oshawa General Hospital. He had been ill for a month.

  In his 73rd year, he was a son of the late Edward and Eliza Fowler and was born in Cartwright Township.

  The deceased was a resident of Oshawa and district for many years. He was employed by the Goodyear Rubber Company, Bowmanville, for more than 40 years, retiring in 1958.

  He married Martha Adams in Peterborough in 1911. She predeceased him in 1920. Mr. Fowler was married for the second time to Florence Ethel Walmsley in Toronto in 1927. She died in 1955. He was again married in Oshawa in 1957 to Elizabeth Terry, who still survives.

  He was a member of Simcoe Street United Church.  Mr Fowler served with the 136th Battalion of the Royal Canadian Army during the First World War.

  He is predeceased by a son, Fred, who died in 1958.

  Surviving are his wife and three sons, Albert, Campbellford; Elmer, Bowmanville and Jim, Sault Ste. Marie and two daughters, Mrs. George Scott (Mae), Toronto and Mrs. Albert Pearce (Myrtle), Newcastle, as well as 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

  Mr. Fowler is at Northcutt and Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 11, at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. J. K. Moffat, minister of Simcoe Street United Church. Interment will be in Pontypool Cemetery. Bowmanville Statesman, June 12, 1963.
