Vera Georgina Strong  (1923 ~ 2015)

 

5.3.4.1.4. Fourth child of Effie V. Adams and David G. Strong, Vera Georgina Strong, was born March 8, 1923, in Darlington Twp., Durham Co., Ontario. 

  She married Howard Donald McKay, son of George Henry McKay and Esther Bebee, April 19, 1941, in Lindsay, Ontario and had six children:

  • (5.3.4.1.4.6)  James Howard  (1950 ~ )

 

  Vera G. Strong McKay died January 15, 2015, aged 91 years and Howard D. McKay died December 31, 1968, aged 57 years in Lindsay, Ontario and are interred at Riverside Cemetery.

Vera G. Strong McKay

Peacefully on January 15, 2015 at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay in her 92nd year.

  Vera McKay (nee Strong) was the beloved wife of the late Howard McKay (Dec. 1968).

 Loving mother of Donald (Doreen), Henry (Lynda), Susan Archer (Bob), Gloria Richardson, Jim (Janice), and the late Glen (survived by Marlene). Loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

 Dear sister of the late Mary Brown, Jean Knapp, William, David, Jim and Roy Strong. Vera will be remembered by her sisters-in-law Leona Strong, and Norma Strong and also by her nieces and nephews.

  The service will be held in Lindsay, on Monday, January 19th. Interment.

Howard D. McKay

May 7, 1911 ~ December 31, 1968

At Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, on Tuesday, December 31, 1968, Howard Donald McKay in his 58th year. Beloved husband of Vera Strong, dear father of Susan (Mrs. Robt. Archer), Gloria (Mrs. Clifford Strong), Henry and Glen all of Lindsay and Donald and James both at home. Dear brother of Curtis of Pontypool and Noble of Lindsay. Resting at the Mackey Funeral Home, Peel St., Lindsay for funeral service in the chapel on Thursday, January 2, 1969 at 2 p.m. Interment at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. Lindsay Post, Dec. 31, 1968.

Glen Edward McKay ~ (Retired GM Employee)

Passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014 at his residence in Lindsay, Ontario. 

 Beloved husband of Marlene. Special Poppa of Lauren and Graham.

  Son of the late Howard McKay and Vera McKay (surviving). Glen was loved by his family and friends and those who knew him.

  The family received friends at Parker Funeral Home, 19 Moose Road, Lindsay on Friday, June 27th from 1:00 p.m. until time of complete funeral service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Reception followed. There was a private interment at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay. If desired, in memoriam donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family and can be arranged by Parker Funeral Home, 705-324-1988.
