5.3.4.1.6. Sixth child of Effie V. Adams and David G. Strong, Ervine Roy Strong, was born June 18, 1929, in Purple Hill, Cartwright Twp., Durham Co., Ontario.

He married Leona Margaret Mitchell, daughter of Alfred Lewis Mitchell and Hazel Pearl Curtis, April 8, 1961, in Bethany, Manvers Twp., Durham Co., Ontario and had three children:

E. Roy Strong died December 19, 2007, aged 78 years, and Leona M. Mitchell Strong died August 1, 2022, aged 82 years in Lindsay, Ontario.

E. Roy Strong

Ervine Roy Strong passed away peacefully at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay, on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at the age of 78. Roy was the beloved husband of Leona Strong (nee Mitchell), of Pontypool. Loving father of Lewis of Lindsay, Heather (Roy Gaynor) of Pontypool and Jeffrey (Yolanda) of Peterborough. Cherished grand-father of Cory Strong, Stanley McCabe, Billy and Jeffery Strong. Survived by sister Vera McKay. Predeceased by his parents George and Effie Strong, brothers Bill, Jim, and Dave and sisters Mary Brown and Jean Knapp. Dear brother-in-law to Betty Lou (Don Beacock). Roy will be missed by all nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home, Lindsay on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service to be held in the chapel on Sunday, December 23rd at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimers Society of Kawartha Lakes, Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Pontypool United Church would be appreciated by the family. Leona M. Mitchell Strong

November 1, 1939 ~ August 1, 2022

Leona Margaret Strong (nee Mitchell) passed away peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital on Mon., August 1, 2022 in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Roy Strong, Mother of Lewis, Heather Gaynor (Roy), and Jeffery (Yolanda), cherished sister Betty Lou Beacock (Don) and Grandma to Jeff, Bill, Cory, Stanley (deceased). Leona was born on the family farm in Ballyduff and lived her life in the village of Pontypool. She enjoyed life and loved her cards. It was said she rarely lost a game. Music was her next love and she spent hours taping her favourite music to be replayed over & over again. Visitation will take place at Mackey Funeral Home, Lindsay on Thursday August 4, 2022 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held at Mackey Funeral Home, Lindsay on Friday August 5, 2022 at 11:00am with interment at Ballyduff Cemetery to follow. Stanley J. McCabe: Suddenly in Alberta on Thursday, July 24, 2014 in his 25th year. Stanley was the beloved son of Heather Gaynor and step son of Roy Gaynor. Predeceased by his father John McCabe. Lovingly remembered by his brother Cory Strong, his grandmother Leona Strong, Gertie McCabe and his grandfather both predeceased Stanley McCabe and Roy Strong. Stanley will be remembered by his aunts, uncles and cousins. A private family service will be held at Jardine Funeral Home, Cremation & Tribute Centre, 8 Princes’ St. West, Fenelon Falls.
